Video & Photo Gallery: 2018 Lexus LS 500 in Manganese Luster

Manganese Luster is a new exterior color that will debut on the 2018 Lexus LS — it’s a beautiful dark silver, with a deep finish similar to Infrared or Ultra Sonic Blue:

Here’s the accompanying photo gallery of the beautiful new color:

I must say that this latest Lexus newsletter is a bit snide. Honda have been using sound suppression active noise cancelling on the Bose system fitted to their Legend model since 2004.

Less of the 'new technology' lies.

Yeah, whoever wrote that newsletter is not very informed. In my experience, active noise cancellation in vehicles doesn't do much in real world conditions. I've driven several vehicles with active noise cancellation, and still found their interiors to be plenty noisy at higher speeds.

Here I thought that the 2018 LS cabin was very quiet because of things like acoustic glass, and various sound-insulating and sound-deadening materials.

The LS has always been quiet because it just is. I don't see a need for active noise cancelling.

This statement got my attention :

At the back, we noticed a trunk lid spoiler which the LS 500 F Sport doesn’t have, there to offer extra high-speed stability. Our photographer also says the sound of the engine was unusually loud for a Lexus, despite not having visible exhaust tips.

Theres been a spoiler on one or two on the show circuit not in the USA I believe. Bigger brakes usually tell a bit too but you can't see it there.

Magnificent color. LS is definitely one of few flagships that can carry actual colors instead of infinite hues of BWG with some splash of dark blue.

Wait how did that get there? Did Lexus send a pre-production model on tour across various dealerships worldwide? Is this part of dealer training for the 5LS?

Full disclosure: I did not listen to 100% of the video dialogue, so not sure if this was mentioned in the video.
