After weeks of social media leaks, the updated 2016 Lexus LX 570 has officially debuted at an event in Pebble Beach.
The update is incredibly comprehensive, from a virtually all-new exterior and interior to upgraded powertrains and technology features. Here’s a breakdown on the most important changes.
Exterior
Only the doors have been carried over from the 2015 model, with the rest of the exterior completely redesigned. Exterior LED lighting is now standard, as are new 20-inch wheels with a two-tone gray finish. 21-inch wheels are optional.
Two new colors have been introduced: Atomic Silver and Nightfall Mica. Carryover colors include Starfire Pearl, Satin Cashmere Metallic, Black Onyx and Nebula Gray Pearl.
Interior
The centerpiece of the redesigned interior is a new 12.3” screen with Remote Touch Interface controller. A new three spoke-style steering wheel has replaced the previous four-spoke design, and ambient LED lighting is throughout the cabin.
A 4.2” color Thin Film Transistor (TFT) multi-information display embedded in the instrument panel is now standard, with a Heads Up Display and Wireless charging tray available as options.
Black and Parchment leather are standard options, and Cabernet semi-aniline leather is now an option. New wood trim options include: Matte Walnut Open Pore, Linear Dark Mocha, Linear Espresso, and Dark Brown Walnut.
Mechanical
While power remains unchanged at 383 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque, a new 8-speed automatic transmission has replaced the previous 6-speed unit.
As a result, fuel economy has increased from 12 city/17 highway/14 combined to 13/18/15, and 0-60 now takes 7.3 seconds, .2 seconds faster than the 2015 model.
Finally, Drive Mode Select has now been added, with ECO, COMFORT, SPORT S and SPORT S+ settings.
New Technology/Convenience Features
The new Lexus Safety System+ is standard, with Pre-Collision, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Intelligent Highbeams and Lane Departure Alert.
Intuitive Park Assist and SmartAccess System with card key is also standard, along with a Panoramic View Monitor and Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
