Video: Lexus RC F Goes for Official Nürburgring Lap Time

Let’s finish up the week with this quick glimpse of a Lexus RC F & IS F on an attempt to set the coupe’s official Nürburgring lap time:

(It’s all so subjective with a video like this, but doesn’t the RC F look so much faster than the IS F? Wow.)

The RCF looks more composed. Like the M3/M4. That's good! But the ISF will always be my first love.

OK~! That was cool... I agree, this is looking more M3'sh performance wise. The way this guy was driving he could have beat the LFA. LOL

LOL. No matter what rabbit the driver could pull out of the hat, RC-F will not be able to get anywhere close to the LFA and even less close to the 7:14 lap time of the LFA Nurburgring Edition.

Agreed. I witnessed LFA leaving the hardcore 3200 lbs 460 HP IS-F CCS-R racing car for the dead with professional drivers in both cars. LFA has crazy cornering speeds and at higher speeds is ridiculously fast and hits 285 km/h on the Nurburgring on the final straight.

Standard LFA hits 285 km/h on the Dottinger uphill straight. The LFA Nurburgring Edition hit 291 km/h on the Dottinger Hohe uphill incline climb with Akira Iida. And 300 km/h going downhill.

I think RC-F will be able to crack a 7:55 - 7:57. The IS-F did a 8:19 in sport auto test. With a factory test driver, that would be about 8:09 - 8:10 since factory drivers know the car limits better.

7:55 - 7:57 ? That would be the same time as the 2013 WRX STI. RC-F needs to be around 7:45 ish.

LFA did 7:38 with a test driver who drove it only 2 times around the track. He did 7:33 in the LFA Nurburgring Edition. About 19 seconds slower than Akira Iida's time. Official lap times and sport auto times are generally 10 - 15 seconds apart. LFA was only 7 seconds slower than Nurburgring Edition with Akira Iida, according to Tanahashi. The standard LFA's official factory lap time would have been 7:21 - 7:23.

I laugh when I hear the 7:38 LFA lap time by Sport Auto (and 7:33 by the Nurburgring Edition). Horst Von Saurma only hit 270 km/h on the final straight with the regular LFA. There are videos on youtube of Akira Iida doing 7:30 with a passenger sitting and him not going all-out yet, still he got to 284 km/h GPS verified on a standard LFA uphill straight. LFA Nurburgring Edition's official lap time was 7:14 and the standard LFA was 7 seconds slower from what the chief engineer said. So the lap time would have been low 7:20s for the standard LFA, if there had been an official lap time of the standard LFA.

yes i know that, but the rc-f is a lot heavier and with less power there is no chance it will get that fast, the M4 did 7:52 so the rc-f will be slower....

i agree, still even with a weak driver in the LFA it will beat an RCF with a good driver, there is no comparison, the RCF is a lot heavier and got less power....and the M4 did 7:52, and the lexus will be slower...i guess 7:57-8:00....

No way. The M4 did a 7:54 and the old hardcore M3 GTS with full racing tires and stripped out did 7:52. No way is RC-F will get close to that. 7:40 is what the official lap time is for a Porsche 911 Carrera S. I was giving 7:55 being very generous since I believe it can get close to the M4 time. It might be around 8:00.

RC-F lap time might be very close to the M4 lap time. That is why I believe it will be in the 7:54 - 7:57 region.

Considering RC F is much heavier (worse power to weight ratio), has less torque, less well balanced (55:45), and M4 is underrated (as many BMW M3 fans say), that is a good time for RC F. I doubt the C AMG will be much faster. I will lack grip.

it might be heavier but this car can put it power down better then the M3 exiting the corners. M4 have power due to turbos but RCF due to its N/A V8 higher reving engine has speed. It not over until the fat lady sings

Maybe the RCF "looks" faster than the ISF is because the coupe is LOUDER than the sedan?

No the RC-F is a lot faster than the IS-F because it is much more sportier. Has a better suspension tuning, more stiffer chassis and a more powerful engine. Inspite of the 200 lbs weight difference, RC-F trounces the IS-F as apparent in the video.
