Lexus RC F High-Performance Coupe Revealed

After months of camouflaged prototypes and plenty of guesswork, Lexus has released the first official photos of the new Lexus RC F high-performance coupe — let’s start off with the full press release.

Lexus RC F Front

Giving new meaning to “back to the grind,” the daily commute is now transformed into a day at the track with the all-new Lexus RC F. The RC F coupe is styled to support the most powerful V8 performance car ever developed by Lexus.

Based on the spectacular all-new RC coupe that was revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show last November, the RC F has wider wheels and tires, an active rear wing, air scoops, cooling ducts and available carbon fiber components, each delivering uncompromising grit to the driving experience.

Design Exterior

Lexus RC F Side Front

The signature Lexus spindle grille, featuring a subtle F-pattern on the lower half, dominates the front of the RC F from the bottom of the hood to the lower lip. The hood is higher than that of the RC to accommodate the larger V8 engine and create the powerful flared profile suited to an F model. Ducts beneath the front bumper, fenders, and strategically-placed aerodynamic stabilizing fins create a stance which further identifies the F model.

Lexus RC F Side Profile

Air outlets at the rear of the front fender form the shape of an L when they merge with side sill extensions, while stacked trapezoidal quad-outlet tailpipes at the rear add further aggression. Taking design cues from the Lexus LFA supercar, the RC F features an available speed-sensitive active rear spoiler. It enhances the coupe’s lines at standstill and deploys from the RC F’s deck at approximately 50 mph and retracts when the speed is less than 25 mph. The wing helps the RC F maintain traction and stability at higher speeds.

Lexus RC F Rear

Three variations of 10-spoke 19-inch forged aluminum wheels are available, including two machine polished designs and one design hand polished by a craftsmen.

Design Interior

Lexus RC F Interior

The striking cockpit-like interior of Lexus RC F complements the aggressive exterior. Unique components include the meters, steering wheel, seats, ornamentation and pedals. The instrument panel is dominated by a central meter which changes according to the four selectable driving modes. The information, color of the display and size of text can be changed.

Occupant comfort is all important. RC F debuts a Lexus-first elliptical cross-section thick-grip steering wheel with optimum placement of paddle gear shifts. All-new high back seats with an embossed F on the headrests offer the driver and passenger an exceptional performance fit. The seats are available in a selection of five leather trims, each with contrasting stitching.

Lexus RC F Seats

Outstanding new L-shaped rubber slits in the brake and accelerator pedals combine form and function to provide better foot grip.

The all-new RC F will be revealed at a press conference at the 2014 North American International Motor Show in W-152, formerly known as the Riverview Ballroom, at Cobo Center Jan. 14 at 8:45 am EST. The Lexus press conference will also be streamed live online atwww.lexus-int.com/.

Excellent work by the Lexus design team and their execution of the details. Can't wait to see how Yaguchi-san's team have succeeded against the BMW F82.

This is the Lexus I love. So much better than the original RC. Good job beefing it up. The seats are phenomenal. Alcantra the dashboard and steering wheel please. Please tell me the front grill is dark chrome. It looks 10000000 times better. Almost everything I wanted changed was changed. 10 thumbs up. Great job

It's too bad that everyone kept posting that stupid render, when clearly the actual vehicle looked eons better and didn't have rear amber tail lenses like the GS.

Miles beyond what I expected (which was a design failure). Lexus actually managed to recover from the standard coupe's design fail and produce a very handsome and unique RC F Coupe. I'm impressed by how Lexus was able to provide what we the enthusiast have sought - as if their reading the blog forums - particularly this one. Its will be extremely interesting to see how the all new RC F matches up against the BMW M4 - I can't wait. Good job Lexus.

I could not agree with you more. I am amazed. They have exceeded the LF-CC! This is aggressive with Lexus class.

Thanks RAL! Based on our prior exchange, I really can't believe Lexus may have rebounded and created a truly great sports coupe with a design that works. Its styling is not as attractive or as cohesive as the LF-CC however the sum of its styling elements work to yield a handsome design that set's this performance coupe apart from anything in its class. In addition, the performance angle should be staggering and the sound elicited from that V8 engine will be symphonic. Until now, I was willing to give into an M4 - now Lexus has placed me back on track. I hope the configurator goes up soon as I'd like to view it in other colors. I also can't wait to see it live at the NAIAS in February.

I agree. Point taken. The RC failed to incorporate the "cohesive and attractive styling" of which you speak of the LF-CC. But I would expect the inherent aggressive character of a "performance" coupe's styling to make some sacrifices this way. Once again, you say it well. The "sum" of the elements of the RC-F still yields a "handsome" result that exhibits deference to the LF-CC. The RC-F unexpectedly succeeds where the RC unexpectedly fails.

Very Impressed ! The video is awesome view of cockpit. Super job on interior ! Really turned on by the seats, trim and the outstanding foot rest and pedal arrangement.....L shaped design is like no other....LEXUS only design here. The negative thing I can say is I really detest the gaping cup holder holes. They are very sore to the eyes for me.....could they not have covers ? The IS same thing. This will be a huge success. More coming form LEXUS that will truly AMAZE !
