Motor Report Comparison: Lexus GS 450h vs. BMW ActiveHybrid 5 vs. Infiniti M35h

The Motor Report in Australia has put the Lexus GS450h in a hybrid sedan shootout against the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 and Infiniti M35h — here’s the result:

Buy the Lexus. It’s a no-brainer.

It’s luxuriously appointed, exceptionally well-made, chock-full of gadgets and very efficient for a large luxury sedan.

It’s also far cheaper than the BMW and more universally appealing than the Infiniti M35h.

The Motor Report judged the GS to have the best interior & options, the best fuel economy, and performance very close to the 5-Series — overall, a very impressive win for Lexus.

I think the GS450h F-Sport is the most complete car around at the moment.

Obviously, the 450h F-Sport is not available in The States Motor Trend not only chose the GS450h over the M35h and Panamera Hybrid, but chose the GS350 F-Sport over the A6 and 535i last year. If I were to get a GS, it would be the 450h.  30 MPG overall (EPA-rated 31 combined) and 0-60 in under 6 seconds?  Motor Trend got 32-35 MPG!!  It's quieter than the gas-powered 350 too! BD
