Lexus LFA Finishes 15th Overall in 24h Nürburgring Race

In the 24 Hours of Nürburgring race this weekend, The Gazoo #83 Lexus LFA placed 15th overall & 1st in the SP8 class.

Drivers Takayuki Kinoshita, Juichi Wakisaka, and Akira Iida guided the LFA to its best-ever finish in this day-long endurance race, running at a smooth and steady clip that saw only one extended pitstop to replace a damaged front bumper.

Here are some photos that Lexus Europe shared with me, starting with an extended look at the three Gazoo Racing entries (one LFA, two Toyota FT 86s):

Next are these photos from the qualifying rounds late last week:

And finally, photos from this weekend’s race:

(Have to send out some very special thanks to Danny Chen over at Lexus Europe — he was the source for all of my information and photos this weekend, and did a great job with his updates.)

The LFA gave those lightweight GT3 cars a run for their money! If there still were two LFA's this year, one should have gone for the gold and would have had the opportunity of being well within the Top 10! One of the LFA laptimes was well below 9 minutes! Some GT3 cars couldn't even achieve that!

Watching Gazoo Lexus LFA destroying a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car and a Nissan GTR in the corners and then on the straights, it was just gone. Remember, Gazoo LFA only makes 480 - 490 HP due to restrictions of the SP8 class http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=4DDQmJvpdKQ

Sure but a 911 GT3 Cup car doesnt have more HP :-)  and remember there were also an SP7 car that beat the LF-A. This time the LF-A did a great job - well deserved - but so did many others..
