Spending the Summer with the 2013 Lexus GS 350

I have some big news to share — last weekend, I made the trip to Lexus Canada outside of Toronto and picked up a 2013 Liquid Platinum GS 350 AWD for a long-term summer road test.

Obviously, this is a very exciting development — the fourth-generation GS is the start of some big changes to the brand, and having this extended time behind the wheel will give me a real opportunity to explore The New Lexus.

To that end, I have set up a separate blog to track my time with the GS — I already have plenty of plans for the summer, including a big road trip, a couple video features, and a few surprises that I don’t want to give away just yet.

Of course, if there’s anything at all you want to know about the GS, be sure to let me know in the comments and I’ll do my best to find the answer — this summer is going to be a real adventure and I’m happy to have all of you along for the ride.

So far, there's no official return date -- sometime in the fall, so around 5-6 months total.

How does the LP multi stage paint look in person?I think it would be my #1 choice & probably a toss up between the black & the red interior.I would love to have the F-Sport,but I think the AWD is a much better choice with our Canadian winters. So I guess I`d like to know how much fun the AWD is compared to the F-Sport & how is the feed back & other than that,I just want to wish you & your family a great summer with some memorable road trips.Enjoy!

You're right. All wheel steering is what I was thinking of.(only available in RWD)

Does the AWD get 10 more hp? I remember reading it somewhere to make up for the added weight.

The Liquid Platinum does a great job at showing off all the body lines & creases -- something that's great for me is that the color photographs very well. Choosing between the standard AWD & the F Sport AWD would be a tough job -- at least in Canada, options would ultimately decide which one to go for. The F Sport AWD just doesn't have the same features available (for example, no ML sound system, which might be a deal breaker.)

@krew:disqus  can you post a picture of the GS's interior at night? and does it come with ambient lighting?

The ambient lighting is very nice in the new GS -- one very nice feature is the LED light strips under the wood on the doors. I'll definitely take photos and get them posted up.

The new GS just joined the RX & CT & is the third Lexus to earn the IIHS top safety pick award since they introduced the new roof strength test in 2010.(it beat the guide lines by a fair margin)
