Lexus: The Relentless Pursuit

Lexus: The Relentless Pursuit

Seven years after its original hardcover release, a revised edition of Chester Dawson’s book Lexus: The Relentless Pursuit has been released as a paperback, and I have the distinct pleasure of being featured as one of the back cover quotes. Here’s my full endorsement:

With his strong focus on the personalities behind the brand, Chester Dawson has crafted a compelling insider look at Lexus and its whirlwind history, from the company’s risky beginnings and earliest setbacks to the current challenges it faces as the number one luxury car manufacturer in the United States.

Lexus: The Relentless Pursuit is an essential read that I would recommend to both Lexus enthusiasts and anyone else looking for real insight into one of the world’s most successful business stories.

The first edition of Lexus: The Relentless Pursuit was the first and only book I read before starting this website, and it’s been a resource I’ve turned to numerous times in the last four years, so being asked to contribute a quote was a honor and a privilege. If you’re at all interested in the history of Lexus, this is the book for you.

Ill definately buy it and soon too, only 11 more on amazon.  How recent does this copy go to in terms of models? 2012 with the LFA? and 2011 with the other models?

The new edition updates with all the current models, including the LFA (both pics and text.) For those interested, unlike The Lexus Story  (a good book in its own right), The Relentless Pursuit was not commissioned by Toyota and has more of both the ups and downs since the brand's introduction. Also, the revised edition contains chapters from outside contributors such as Lexus design guru Erwin Lui, famous for the original SC, and Hisao Inoue, one of Japan's foremost automotive journalists.

Hopefully the revised edition goes into more detail regarding hybrid technology.
