hi i want buy a sc gone wild car .. but i live in germany .. where can i buy this car?
YO! just got one they are toyota soarer (NOT LEXUS!) LEXUS BOUT THE DESIGN FROM TOYOTA.
they are manufactured in japan and can be imported from there or surrounding countries.
the black ones are 2.5 assorted twin and single turbo’s, where as the white was the V8
the official SC400 (the one i got for myself mwahahaha) 2.5L turbo’s are the SC300 AKA the black soarer’s
@Revan:
I think the SC was intended for Lexus. It was designed by the Calty Design Research in Newport Beach, CA, with Lexus in mind. Well, at least that’s what it seems to be from the surface. Everything got confusing after I learned about how the Toyota SAI, the Toyota version of the HS, was also considered a luxury hybrid in Japan despite the simpler interior.
Btw, when you said 2.5L turbo for the SC 300, were you describing the stock car? We didn’t have that here in the US.
Anyways, I’m still pretty sure that the SC is all-Lexus. It was badged as a Soarer in other markets as a new generation and was purposely built for the American Market.
@WorldofLuxury:
hey hey thnx for that i didnt know the US didnt obtain any 2.5L twin turbo’s or very little of them i was personally under impression it was toyota but it wouldnt be the first time i was wrong:)
any way thanx for clarifying that always appriciate a good yap bout a SC
Revan
they have 3.0 2jz-ge inline 6 engines in the 300s, 4.0 1uz-ge v8’s in the 400s.
lexus bought nothing from toyota, they are actually a subsidiary of toyota, owned and built in toyota plants. high end toyotas are only sold as lexus in the usa, thus the name (Luxury EXperimental US). the 2.5 1jz engines are what came in the old mk3 supras, the mk4 supra from the 90’s having a similar 2jz engine as the sc, but with factory turbos and 6sp transmissions. the sc was designed in cali but was sold in other markets as the toyota soarer.
are most lexus owners as retarded as these people?
@ryno: ahahaha We Lexus people know; we know that Lexus vehicles were badged as Toyotas in many other markets. Also, one person doesn’t represent a whole population. Additionally, this is a Lexus enthusiast site, so expect some pride. The fact that you think we’re that retarded makes you a very ignorant person. Do you know that Revan is actually a Toyota owner by the badge on his soarer?
Now let me see… are you a Toyota fan, or are you a Toyota-Lexus hater? Or were you just annoyed by how silly Revan sounded?
Yes, the first Lexus SC was designed by Calty in the US for Lexus, but the body design was shared with the domestic 3rd gen Soarer, which was also grey imported to Australia/UK and there badged by some as a ‘Lexus Soarer’. The difference with the Soarer was its choice of engines, including Toyota turbo engines. None of the turbo engines made it into the SC.
The SC 400 was the bigger seller vs. the SC 300, and it had the 1UZ-FE V8 engine which was expressly developed for the LS 400. This was the first engine developed for Lexus. It was used on the first two generations of the LS 400, the SC 400, and the GS 400; it also later found some applications in the Crown / Crown Majesta luxury JDM models.
Also, the name Lexus comes from the combination of luxury + elegance, it is a myth often pushed by rival fans that it stands for luxury exports to us. Not to mention that Lexus launched in 1989-1990 in US, Canada, Europe, Australia, etc. One can also look up the trademark filings in the US from the 1980s and find that “Luxus” was originally trademarked, which simply refers to luxury. Other naming finalists were “Alexis”, “Calibre”, and “Verone.”
