As always BSCB is a good place to acquire these data. However they usually only make data available for a week before you need a paid subscription to retrieve them later. So I am not sure whether it is okay to post their numbers directly. @spwolf I think you have connections in this organization?

The whole Chinese market suffered the 7th consecutive sales decline. However, Toyota again posted record-breaking sales figures among the chaos: 158,069 wholesale or 22.2% Y2Y! Current market leader VW is hemorrhaging at -20.1% Y2Y which is in line with overall market shrinkage (VW sales is usually used as the canary in the coal mine to assess the overall market). Honda made a comeback with its sedan lineup while its SUVs are under heavy fire from Toyota's new offerings. Meanwhile, almost all minor JVs in China are literally on the way to hell: Ford, Mazda, Jeep, PSA, Renault, and Hyundai are deep in double digit decline and they do not have any new product release to mitigate the situation. The whole landscape is reshaping.

Below is a list of sales by model, Toyota only. The format is given by [ranking within the brand] [rank in the overall market] [Model] [JV Partner] [Sales] [Y2Y]
1. (5) Corolla (F) 37,711 -19.3%
2. (11) Levin (G) 26,681 +89.9%
3. (18) Camry (G) 19,720 +70.3%
4. (20) RAV4 (F) 17,859 +3.6%
5. (62) Highlander (G) 10,481 +0.2%
6. (78) Yaris L Hatch (G) 8,436 +39.9%
7. (82) C-HR (G) 7,786 -
8. (91) Izoa (F) 7,092 -
9. (98) Yaris L Sedan (G) 6,596 +89.9%
10. (101) Vios Sedan (F) 6,377 -23.2%
11. (117) Vios FS Hatch (F) 5,192 +16.9%
12. (164) LC Prado (F) 2,851 +17.3%
13. (246) Crown (F) 1,287 -72.2%

We are also seeing the recurring theme of GAC gaining dominance over FAW. The best example is the Levin which has been continuously stealing sales from the Corolla. Its XP150 Yaris duo also enjoyed huge boost while the Vios duo suffered. Crown is on the verge of extinction while FAW is gearing up for Avalon. Despite their denial, we should expect FAW to announce the death of the Crown later this year.

C-HR twins doing 15k per month is really nice. Camry is finally coming where it has to be.

Cant wait to see what Avalon is going to do.

But real story is Corolla. Do you know next gen pricing already? New ones are so much more competitive, as long as pricing for similar versions is kept in check, sales will sky rocket again. Same goes for Rav4 and upcoming Highlander. Those are going to be low picking fruits.

15k for CHR means UX has a decent chance to become 3rd best selling model (?) and lift up overall brand sales.

There is no price information. If the Corolla duo stay at current prices they will absolutely destroy every competitor in the segment. But the trend from the past few months is that people in general are willing to pay more for Toyota so they really can get away with an average pricing ¥10k higher plus at least 5% markup for the first year.

The UX will become a very good selling model no doubt. But they are really playing a dangerous game of under-equipping the UX compared to international models. Even though everyone else does this, it doesn't mean it's right to do so.

It is only US where UX models are that well equipped, our Euro models have pretty base version (but yeah, we do have LSS 2.0 built in) but at the same time they go up to 50k in price too.

I think Marklines is little bit faster with the data. Last months sales figures come about 4-6 days after start of the next month. Downsight is that they don't give model by model breakdown. (Also not Lexus figures)

By the way, Japanese brands were the only ones to gain market share in January. If this trend continues Japanese could surpass Germans this year.
Chinese brands 41.15% -22.17
Japanese brands 21.27% +2.21
German brands 22.79% -16.38
American brands 10.13% -22.80
South Korean brands 6.22% -31.04
French brands 0.77% -63.29

https://www.marklines.com/ja/statistics/flash_sales/salesfig_china_2019

that is good stats, thank you... keep in mind that Germans have 1 regular manufacturer in China - VW and Japanese have at least 2.... ie it is more important that VW outsells Toyota 3x1 and that BMW and MB outsell Lexus 5-6x1 than that "Japanese" are going to outsell "German" manufacturers in China.

At least from our perspective.

drops are not good for the industry, hopefully they stabilize soon.

It's the market adjusting itself. There was too much over supply in the past three years and carmakers have been using unsustainable incentives to push demand. The macro economy could no longer sustain the bubble. It's better the market crashes now than later.

UX is already available.
Mar 9 for Corolla E+ (PHV)
Mar 11 for Levin E+ (PHV)
Mar 21 for Avalon
New Corolla and Levin are unknown.
RAV4 is by the end of the year, but hasn't been officially unveiled in China yet.

We're roughly 1.5 months away from Auto Shanghai, China's major spring auto show in odd-numbered years (this year pretty much overlapping with the New York Auto Show), so we should see some Toyota-related announcement there.

Wholesale figures for February. The format is given by [ranking within the brand] [rank in the overall market] [Model] [JV Partner] [Sales] [Y2Y]
1. (7) Corolla (F) 19,191 -12.6%
2. (28) Levin (G) 10,087 +89.9%
3. (38) RAV4 (F) 8,187 +7.3%
4. (71) Camry (G) 5,194 -32.1%
5. (83) Highlander (G) 4,612 +77.5%
6. (88) Izoa (F) 4,402 -
7. (112) Yaris L Hatch (G) 3,219 +27.4%
8. (128) Vios FS Hatch (F) 2,819 +37.8%
9. (138) Yaris L Sedan (G) 2,555 +24.2%
10. (146) LC Prado (F) 2,404 +41.6%
11. (172) Vios Sedan (F) 1,822 -56.8%
12. (187) C-HR (G) 1,539 -
13. (229) Crown (F) 989 -59.3%

Total delivered in February is 67,020 for a 7.1% increase Y2Y, sliding behind Honda which delivered 74,209 vehicles but for a -5.7% decrease Y2Y. Note February figures are much worse than January because of Chinese New Year.

FAW delivered 39,814 in total while GAC only delivered only 27,206 vehicles. This is due to different holiday schedules in northern and southern China. In Guangdong (where GAC is based), workers typically have a two or three week holiday while in the north people only have the standard 7-day holiday. As a result most factories in Guangdong operate much fewer shifts during this time.

20190405_030837.jpg Japanes automakers sales in March. Order is: Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Mazda. Lexus sales down 14.2%. Number of vehicles sold is not published yet but downhill can be explained: March 2018 was record month for Lexus sales then surged 36%.

The actual order is Nissan-Honda-Toyota. That table was ordered by aggregate sales in 2019.

Anyway wholesale figures are generally not good indicator of actual demand. Sucks that retail figures are hard to come by this year.

I meant that the sales are displayed in that order since everyone can't understand 漢字 :)
