Land Cruiser GR Sport got me crying over here 😩

~440lb weight reduction on TNGA. This bodes very, very well for everything else on that chassis!

Current Land Cruiser is about 5,750lbs, so the new one is around 5,300lbs. Pretty close to a loaded up LS 500, and that has the same TT V6. Land Cruiser 0-60 in under 6 seconds is looking possible 🤣

So actually it will be lighter than most unibody SUVs in this segment. And only 150kg heavier than the all-aluminum unibody Range Rover. The improvement in frame construction is really impressive.

The USA will get Tundra with similar improvements and guaranteed higher payload and towing plus all kinds of TRD trims. That's a pretty good 'consolation prize'. The rest of the world wish they get Tundra haha.

Even though I'm still unhappy about losing the name, if it follows history, Lexus should offer 95% the same product with different sheetmetal (LX), so it's not a terrible gig overall.

from a purely functional perspective, what really makes this LC worth the upgrade, compared to almost every other new car where the upgrades are negligible, are the new more powerful and specifically efficient engines and the dramatically reduced weight.

Before we go any further, we should be clear that there currently don’t seem to be any plans to bring this latest Land Cruiser to the United States. American buyers have proven much more willing to spend big money on luxurious and rugged SUVs wearing the Lexus badge, and rumors suggest the U.S. will get a fresh new LX model but not the Toyota on which it is based. We hope to get confirmation and more details from Lexus at some point in the not-too-distant future.

Truck looks much better in the premium trim. Really hoping they bring the hybrid/BEV + weight gain for the tax incentive bracket
