Unfortunately, there is one reason why the rear door does not rock. I'm an average six-foot tall male and my opened garage door is a little lower than a typical door. I set the rear door adjustment to setting #4, which is perfect—the door stops about one-half-inch from hitting the garage door. However, whenever I am out and about and am putting items in the back of my NX, I often bump my forehead on the opened door.

I wish there was a way to temporarily override the setting so that it opens all the way. If I manually push it to it's fully open position, it takes a great deal of force to open it and I can hear the motor gears churning inside. This can't be good long term. I'm concerned about damaging the motor. I've already had to replace the rear door motor in my former 2005 RX 330 (not due to something like this—it just wore out).

I always like showing guests too that you can set it from the hatch itself as well.
1. Open the hatch all the way from either the button under the L logo on the hatch itself or on the key fob
2. Press the button on the inside bottom of the hatch to start it closing.
3. Press the button again while the hatch is closing to stop it at the height you want it set.
4. Press and hold the button one last time till you hear a series of beeps. That confirms that the door is now reprogrammed to that new height.
Then to reset it, I usually either just push the door back up manually, even though it's a little scary sounding like LexusDude mentioned. Or I go into the settings like Brock showed in the first place to get it back to normal.

FANTASTIC! Thank you for that information! Would you mind if I copied / pasted that in the comments section of the original video? I would gladly give you credit and mention you by name and dealership as well. Just let me know - I could do it today!

Thanks again!

Brock

As a temporary solution when the door is opening you can squeeze the seal on the sides of the door to stop the door from opening wider.
