I work at a Lexus Dealership and I am always trying to get information on up coming Lexus cars. I was told recently that the IS500 is the name and V8 is the game. No mention of F Sport, F , nor AWD. Just that it will be call IS500 and it will have a V8.
any other news you can get us???

I sure hope that would be a different engine. The 5.0L V8 sounds great but is definitely too slow compared to its competitors.

LOL...too slow? Here is a stock RCF with a full Apexi exhaust, doing 12.2 seconds. It is a very potent engine that makes almost 500 HP out of the factory. Only issue is, times have changed and these types of N/A high-rev engines cannot meet stringent emissions anymore, which is why most likely Lexus would want to set the tone for the cars to come with a TT V6.

I own a GSF. I would like it to be below 4s for 0-60 and I don't modify anything. So yes, it's slow for me and I wouldn't buy another F brand if it's above 4s. For me, it's either a F model below 4s at least or if I don't consider launch speed at all I will buy a car like LC500.

This is an F-sport teaser. Not an F car. Besides, if 0-60 mph is your main grip, AWD turbo cars would be your best bet like Audi RS3. Low-end torque combined with AWD. Standard RCF is 4.1 seconds and TE is 3.9 seconds, but depends heavily on off-the-line traction/tires with RWD. On the race track, only a flying start matters, which is why F cars are not optimized for a dead stop.

I recently listened to a YouTube video of a BMW 850i with an exhaust system my heart fluttered like a butterfly.
I've had a BMW 850i and a SL65 AMG. Loved the AMG with 738 lb ft of torque, muffler deleted. It sounded scary even with Turbos. The 850i might have been fast for 1991 but it was quite slow compared to a modern car. But the looks were awesome. I wish I kept it. Both of them!

You'd be surprised how tight lipped Lexus is about up coming products, even to it's own dealerships! I am always asking my General Manager after his Dealer Principle meetings and Product Meeting for any news and Lexus is pretty vague. They do this so that they sell the current inventory. Wound you spend $100k on a LX570 if you knew in Nov that a new LX600 is coming and making your $100k car an old model? With that said, he just had is meeting a few weeks ago and they told him the new NX are hitting showrooms in Sept and new LX hitting in Nov. IS500 with a V8 in Nov also. No mention from Lexus of NX engine/hybrid choices. No mention of LX being gas only or Hybrid or both models. Just that we are getting a new NX and LX. Pretty vague.

Q4 release is too late. Embarrassing.

Oh, and no mention of a LC-F nor LS-F. Sad... I love my Yellow Inspiration Series LC500 but I would dump it for a LC-f in a heartbeat. At Lexus dealership, if you get Master Certified, Lexus and the dealership pays you $400 in total towards a Lexus lease. Called the Master Certified Lease Program. Only one $400 payment per employee but special lease rebates and price on any Lexus Lease. Good perk for good employees.

I've always wondered why they don't release RWD sports cars in the summer. We have snow in Colorado so releasing a IS500 in Nov does not have the same effect as in May where you can go out and actually drive it! But the snow is not that bad in Denver. I think we are a few years too late in products but they are coming and coming hard!

Of course I wouldn't buy the old model when the new one is coming but if I knew the new one was coming a few months after my lease was up I'd work something out with the dealer hopefully...so LX in November...well that fits my timeline any idea what it's going to look like?? Lol

My general manager said the picture that was shown looked like a Range Rover. Only makes sense. I think the Rover is our #1 competition.

Lexus USA allows a 6 months, month to month, extension on your lease. After the first 6 months, they offer a second 6 month extension. The first extension just requires a phone call to Lexus Financial. The second 6 months requires a few forms. The easiest in the industry.

What's your point? I talked specifically about the engine used on this "F SPORT" model, and then you LOLed me, posting me a video of modified RCF. I then said all the current stock F model is too slow because I own one, and now you're teaching me that I should talk about F SPORT model?

Do we know if IS500 is gonna look different or almost exactly the same just like GS to GSF? Lots of average buyers care more about how it looks than how it really performs. Maybe a F Sport Plus package with a bigger rear spoiler and other track elements would be a good idea.

I agree. Why put a V8 in when it will just look like any other IS300 or 350. But no mention of the looks in his meeting,

That's great to hear. I'm looking at X5, the Q8, and the Range and maybe the Porsche. I can't wait to see it. Would love to stay with Lexus as I love them but to be honest I have starting falling in love with X5 especially the X5 50 and X5 M if the wife gives me the green light on the X5 M hard to say no...

I love all cars and mostly performance cars. I have to agree with most enthusiasts that the LX is too fat and slow, steers like a boat. I know the new LX600 will have more power but I hope it also has sharper steering. I personally own a 2011 and a 2012 Full size Ranger Rover Supercharged, same color too! The reason for having 2 is that the 2011's engine blew up and it's not worth the money to fix it. So it sits in storage as a parts car! Even with that, I bought another Supercharged because of how it drives. 510hp! If you drive them back to back, hands down the Rover. But factor in depreciation and reliability, the LX is the smart choice. I'm just stupid, I love punishment and cannot say no to HP. BMW is not cheap to own. An extended warranty (VSC) on a LX is a fourth of the price of a warranty on a BMW X5M. Statistically, that means the X5 will have 4 times the problems that the LX has. Or less problems but the problems costs 4 times more to fix. Still hard for me to say no to a X5 5.0M. I am a gluten for punishment. I've owned 39 car is the past 20 years. Other than the 19 Lexus cars, all others were not smart choices. But most were fast and fun!

How long of a run is expected for the IS 500? The 2nd gen IS-F was six years from '08 - '14.
