Lexus is beyond ecstatic with the start of the IS. Would be cool to keep that momentum going with additional models in the lineup

I won’t start a new thread I’m sure it’s coming.

Correct - best ever March for Toyota NA, Toyota division, and Lexus division.

Couple interesting comparisons for me (monthly sales):
MDX about 9k, RDX about 13k - good launch for MDX.
TLX @ 3041, IS @ 2514 - not bad that the TLX is beating the hot IS by 20%. (But ES beats both @ 4664).
Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Highlander all doing extremely well, with sales over 25k.
New Venza is basically matching old NX @ 6500 units.
Even LC looking good at almost 240 units (versus seven for NSX).
And Sienna moving well with about 12k, versus about 9k for Odyssey.

Not to be the vindictive type, but where is that jerk who kept saying a bunch of crap about me? I wouldn't mind them to see this.

Anyways, Toyota and Lexus seem to be on fire nowadays. So that's great. :^)

Absolutely. Now, imagine how well the, for example NX and RX are going to sell when the brand new models come out.

He is not a jerk. He had a difference of opinion.
1. Acura pumped up incentives
2. They had over 6,000 sitting on lots. You can’t even find an IS
3. Technically the tlx is supposed to outsell the Is. the tlx is supposed to sell like an ES. What a fall from grace.

Imagine expectations are so low and it’s selling so bad, people are happy it’s outselling the car is supposed to outsell.

LMFAO. He called me a reactionist internet warrior because I thought the TLX would sell better than the IS and thought I was grovelling to him in order walk back from my decision (they're acting like they're god) but I still maintained my current stance. And that was the least of the things that they said about me.

Unlike most people out there on the internet, I only speak out the genuine truths and I don't seek out internet points. I honestly rarely say anything that makes no sense or wasn't true in hindsight.

They even b*tched that "nobody asked for your opinion". Don't you throw out your opinions all the time too Mike? Does anyone get mad at you for saying an opinion? I may start a discussion about WHY you're wrong but not that you should just shut up all the time. If you're claiming difference of opinion, then you'd call him out too, but you're being hugely inconsistent here.

I'm always one to show evidence, and there's clear evidence that this guy doesn't even know how forum posting works. Attached below are some receipts. ;P

The IS always sold better due to it always being a better car than the TLX and it having the famous Lexus badge. The refreshed IS doesn't improve on that much more to convince a lot of current buyers to upgrade unless you want the IS500. The TLX is all new and the Type-S is nowhere near as interesting as the IS500, but even their base car is amazing. Be it interior and exterior design, the materials used, the amazing sound system, etc..

The TLX was ALWAYS an IS competitor. Acura has never built a competitor to the ES, and reviewers never compare the TLX to the ES. With Buick mostly fading away, the ES is alone in it's own segment that basically no manufacturer are building cars that compete against it. Hence nobody will ever catch the ES in terms of sales.

I think that’s Acura’s overall problem. The tlx for all intents and purposes is their version of the Es. They just try to Pawn it off as some amazing sport sedan which it isn’t. The only people fooled are their fans. Both are large for their price, both are fwd based, both offer awd, both offer sport packages, both are made here tho the ES is a global product and the Tlx is not. They got ads racing the mdx and rdx with some guy in a helmet when 98% are driven by 70 year olds at Walmart. It’s not authentic.

That said, I am glad they finally met sales goal. They aim to sell 36k a year here. 3k is that pace. We will see can they keep it up.

As for the IS, no one predicted it would be this well received. I am also in the camp shocked it’s selling so well.

I'm in Scotland, Acura doesn't exist here, but from my perspective they are a pathetic car brand that are no where near competing with Lexus. Most of their product history is just rebadged European or Japanese Honda' with no styling changes at all. They never made a V8 which made them look weak in my eyes to be honest. Their cars are painfully ugly. I don't know how they are still going.

while i agree with you, how can brand be pathetic?

But in any case, Honda missed the boat with it in general, and now it is limited to USA.

Honda historically is more of a 'small car brand' unlike Nissan and Toyota. Acura never had a lot of high-end platforms to work with in the first place. Even during the Bubble years they only had one high prestige product (NSX) because they were pouring resources into the superbike arms race. Considering that I would say Acura is much better managed than Infiniti, which had much more resources to play with. Before late 2000s Nissan was THE 'big car brand' of Japan.

Nissan was never the big car brand in Japan. Toyota is part of the Japanese economic engine. Toyota is larger than Honda and Nissan and a few other brands combined. In Japan, Toyota has about 50% car share. Yes one company.

^^ I was talking about the pre-2000s Nissan. And by 'big' and 'small' I meant the size of the cars not size of the company. Throughout the Cold War Nissan plus Prince and Datsun had always given Toyota headaches in the big car market (they had the Imperial family car until 2006). By 1990 Nissan had a full line of unibody, independent suspension lineup in the mid-size up to full-size+ market while Toyota was still mostly on BOF with solid axles and throughout the decade Toyota had to play catchup. The point is Nissan has always been more influential in the big car market than Honda (even till this day), yet the Infiniti brand was very poorly executed compared to Acura.
