Maserati reminds us gloriously of what its brand represents in automotive fashion. Marketing on point for others to take notes!

they be overpriced af though
Or hear me out with all due respect; It may be that you/we may not make enough money to where the perception of their price points may seem cheap or underpriced. After all we know that there are people that walk the earth that think a GT3 RS is a bargin.

For me aswell they're very expensive, although I dont think overpriced I think the MC12 is priced accordingly for the tech on that beautiful car.

Dude... the GranTurismo/GranCabrio is overpriced compared to the 8-Series, SL/AMG GT, LC, 911, and Vantage. It offers nothing in comparison to those cars and it's pretty average in terms of performance.

I judge cars for how they are in a certain context or relative to their competitive set, being broke or rich has nothing to do with this. Now someone could purchase a Maserati because it's an emotional purchase or it tickles their fancy in a certain way... sure, but those who are in the know with their cars wouldn't buy a Maserati if BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Porsche, and Aston-Martin have offerings in that class as well.

The GT3 RS is in fact a bargain for what it is, but to even compare the two cars by uttering them in the same sentence is insulting to the GT3 RS. I do get the point you're making but my point still stands.

As for the other cars, like the Ghibli, Levante, and Grecale, they're a disaster to own. ESPECIALLY the Ghibli. The Quattroporte and MC20 are pretty cool though.

MC20, not MC12. The MC12 is ~20 years old. The MC20 is the only car that I would genuinely consider if I had MC20 money, as it has pretty fascinating engineering and is a great supercar.

Generally its an exercise in hubris / troll for me when someone says that nothing personal take no harm in it. I just dont understand the value prop when it comes to overpriced and underpriced statements. Its totally subjective based on income and lifestyle. Thus i always probe when someone says that because I have no clue what that means as we all are on different financial spectrums.

Oh MC20 was a typo. And agreed its gorgeous.

Like I said, people who discern whether something is overpriced or not will try to compare it to the rest of its competitive set. For its price, Maserati does not offer much as a brand. This has nothing to do with wealth, rather it's more about awareness.

People will agree if you say that Maseratis are overpriced, because they've earned that reputation over the years. If a rich person buys one then good for them, it's not like I have hate towards them lol, but that still doesn't change the fact that these cars are still overpriced for what they offer.

Amen.

Girl... you and I have vastly different definitions of "bargains" lol.. modern Porsche 911s are anything but bargains nowadays with all the price hikes.

MY25 GT3 got a price hike from 180k to 220k.. who knows how much the MY25(or MY26?) 992.2 GT3 RS will jump up to...

I say the GT3 RS is a bargain because no other cars offer the same performance envelope that this car does. This puts many supercars (and hypercars) to shame.

Porsche Tax always be a b*tch, but if I had that kind of money, a GT3 RS is something I wouldn't hesitate to buy. It's a marvel of engineering, and they aren't poorly built like a Maserati would be.

Sales of GT3 RS'es are climbing because of their popularity, and dealers mark these things up like crazy, so why shouldn't the manufacturer enjoy some of those extra margins instead of slimy dealerships? A Maserati GranTurismo is like... 180k? And what do you get for it? A car that's objectively worse than competitors from BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz, and guess what, those cars cost 25-35% less.

Porsche's incredibly smart they know exactly what they're doing don't get me wrong.

I just don't think it's right and I think it's attracting the wrong type of buyers.

GT3 has always been the enthusiast choice for sure, but now they're pricing out the actual enthusiasts that would buy GT3s to track and a lot more "collectors" and "new money" young kids are buying these and either collecting dust or for IG clout or whatever. Never seen anything like this before with the 991s and 997s when it was primarily real enthusiasts buying them, but the 992 generation GT3 definitely blew up this market of more superficial buyers.

Are there still people buying these to drive and track them, for sure, but I think this is the wrong move for Porsche and pricing out a lot of the people who would actually use these cars for the track and drive them.

Favorite type of GT3 drivers are the ones that go to the track, only to drive like an old person on their way to meet up with their mates for a cup of coffee šŸ¤£

All cars suffer from feature creep and get increasingly less affordable over time. But they don't really become that much more expensive because they essentially replace old products that were one segment above. Even a modern Corolla is not really a cheap car but it replaced the old Camry as a midsize family car.

The GT3 was never meant to be an affordable "enthusiast car". It is a road legal version of the GT3 race car. It was only "cheaper" because higher levels of GT racing used to exist. But now GT3 is the top level GT racing category and is becoming increasingly expensive, while the cheaper GT4 class is becoming the new GT3. The spiritual successor to the 911 GT3 is the 718 GT4. The 911 GT3 is replacing the GT2 while GT2 RS is moving up to near hypercar territory.
