This is why it's so hard to have trust in any German brand: they cheat. And I say this as a BMW fan.

I won't condone or defend what BMW did, but altering sales figures probably didn't get anyone injured or killed. If you want to look at REAL fraud on the part of automakers, one should look back in time to the design of the Ford Pinto, Chevy Corvair, and GM X-Body compacts. Those vehicles got people injured, killed, or stuck with lemons simply because the bean-counters and Execs were too cheap to spend a few extra $$$$ on each vehicle for a couple of needed parts or structure-modifications.
