In all seriousness, I guess this is about what I expected for an NX Overtrail... unique color, blackout trim, unique interior, all-terrain tires, enhanced trail mode?

Somehow, it still feels like they could have gone further or done more like a bumper? A roof rack? A different grille pattern? A better looking wheel? Skid plates?

In its current form the NX450h+ is actually a better camping car than the GX550 because it has a 18.1kWh battery providing 1500W of AC power and can be extended as long as you have petrol in the tank. That's more energy than most camper vans and RVs. A lot of the money and space spent on overlanding builds are the power system and the NX450h+ provides that for free.

A GX plug-in hybrid can be the ultimate overlanding vehicle with the capability to provide power for camping trailers for weeks even without solar power.

The GX PHEV would unfortunately weigh 6500lbs before all the overlanding stuff is strapped to it.

Jerry cans are hard to beat when it comes to energy density. Each gallon of gasoline has 33kWh of energy in it. Even if the 2.4T is only 20% efficient in charge mode, you'd only need 3 gallons of gas to have more on board energy than the 18.1kWh battery pack of the NX450h+. A 5 gallon jerry can weighs 10lbs... figure 6lbs per gallon of gas. That's 40lbs total. How heavy is the battery pack in an NX450h+? 400lbs?

IMO, this is where the Land Cruiser could shine with the 2400W inverter and the ~1.8kWh hybrid battery so long as it has a battery top up mode that is designed for it like the F150 hybrid.

If they brought this over it will probably sell to the nordstorm overlanders.

I think Lexus should embrace the LRD emblem at this point, i see too many of them.
