16th Generation Toyota Crown (Sedan, Cross, Sport, Estate/Signia)

Not going to lie have had my eye on it for a while I hope they can add a more powerful variant during a refresh/redesign.

How responsive is it compared to the NX350h?

I think the Crown Signia is easily their strongest mid-range crossover offering currently. Truly an under-appreciated product.

It's also a strong evidence that their plan is to gradually absorb Lexus buyers into the Crown sub-brand, then leave Lexus for BEV buyers.

Not sold in Europe, unfortunately. It is a perfect balance between crossover/SUV and lifted wagon. I think it would have made very well as taxi, now that there is no more Camry and ES unfit.

That's like saying they're also planning to absorb Lexus buyers into the Land Cruiser sub-brand. That's simply not true. Those are Toyota's flagships.

If they offered the 366hp hybrid Max powertrain on the Crown Signia, it would be an absolute killer and I have a feeling that's why they don't offer it. It's a great package and another 100hp would only make it better, though at the expense of fuel economy. We tend to have heavy right feet in this household, but it's been funny how that has now transitioned to hypermiling and trying to see the max MPG you can get out of a trip... sometimes up to 50-51mpg.

NX 350h felt pretty similar in terms of powertrain responsiveness, but the fact that the Crown Signia is so much larger does make it a bit smoother and more composed, especially on the highway.

Agreed on all points. After driving the Crown Signia, it was impossible to justify another $8-10k for an NXh or an extra $10-15k for an RXh... it's sad to think that is maybe part of their plan.

My mom is considering another car and I would think the NX and RX is on that list though because its just her now, the NX makes the most sense. OTOH, the Signia is a compelling choice if the price is right, how how does the CS feel heightwise to the NX?

If you replaced the butterfly on the hood and rear with a big L, no one here would be mad at you lol

They're pretty comparable IMO... Crown Signia is maybe an inch or so lower? The CS feels a bit lower when you're sitting in it but side by side, they are very similar. I HIGHLY recommend the CS if your mom is shopping. Check it out!
