That was a good, quick review between the two. I think they did a good job of highlighting the pluses and minuses of each car.

Two things I'm thinking after reading that:
1) I'd really like to see an RC-F vs GS-F comparison test
2) The M5 does 0-60 under 4 seconds and a top speed of 199mph. wow.

Saw the article on Facebook. Every comment was typical brainwashed BMW cult member bashing Lexus. The weight, the speed, the interior (REALLY? The McBland styling of BMW interiors and you bash the nearly perfect ergonomics of a Lexus? )
Funny. I don't remember Lexus ever marketing their cars to be faster than everyone else.
Just the relentless pursuit of perfection. Which BMW is far from. Price. Reliability. Must purchase package after upgrade package to obtain creature comforts. I'll give up speed for class thankyouverymuch.

Is it me, or does every critic have to bash the remote touch system as a form of legitimizing their review? I bet not one of them has sat with a tech specialist to actually see how it works....point and click...holy s*%t that's hard! Never was designed to be used while driving, but they still have to put in their "token" comment about it. Ridiculous.

I only got halfway through the review to realize this was an unfair comparison.... BMW not being able to provide a 'regular' M5?! Oh, but they had a '30th Anniversary' edition with 40 more horsepower that is limited to only 300 units on hand?! Mmm hmm....and don't they usually electronically limit their cars to 155 mph (at least in the United States anyway, not sure about other countries)? I'm looking forward to a comparison between the GSF and the Audi S6, they seem to be more direct competitors...I'm not a fan of this review because it's not the base M5, sorry!

IMO anyone with eyes can see the GS F's interior is superior in simplicity, design, etc.

We all know the GS F is going to be outpowered and no there is no excuse for that since it is called a "F". That said in reviews I think the car has captured some of that old E39 M5 magic that is missing today. Lighter, less complicated and engaging. The new M5 as they stated is way faster but fatter, less involving and engaging.

A lot of credit has to go to the standard TVD, it just really makes the GS F stay planted and really ups the full quotient.

Not even 9 times out of ten, I think 9.9 times out of 10 the M5 will be bought due to it being a M5, it has heritage, its an amazing car and most won't push it to its limits to realize the GS F is more nimble. The GS F is really a tasty new option for someone in the know, an enthusiasts "enthusiast". Obviously they know its down on power but love it for its other merits.

They've got their facts wrong. The Lexus GS-F here in the UK has a "limited" top speed of 168mph!!

Everyone on here has said everything right so far. The only thing I think I can add is that yes, the BMW has more speed and a higher top speed. However, the M5 does NOT come with a drive select mode. Meaning, the M5 will always be in that "M" mode. The GS F does come with a drive select mode, featuring eco, normal, sport, and sport +. As far as handling goes, the M5 has your basic track car traction control systems. The GS F has the VERY sophisticated torque vectoring system, which allows for turning/cornering at higher speeds and improved grip out of turns. I do like the route Lexus is taking, making high performance vehicles, but it will take some time for them to catch on as "performance" vehicles. When people hear M5, they think performance. When people hear, Lexus (whatever model, it doesn't matter), performance does not pop into their heads.

You're welcome.... I haven't seen the GSF interior personally but I did get to spend some quality time inside of the 2013 GS350 when it first came out in February 2012....VERY nice! Those were the days!

Just the fact that Lexus is now competing with the M4 (former M3 coupe) AND the M5 is a major accomplishment. I guessing that they're selling it in low volumes to see the public's reception and if it's positive then the next GSF will be even better, perhaps with a supercharger, one or two turbos, or maybe one or two electric motors. The Toyota/Lexus concept of kaizen (continuous improvement) is in full effect here. 'Slow and steady' wins the race.....

Been in a few 5 series generation models (mostly the last one) and the average could not tell the difference between that and this years interior design, I'm sorry but it's mostly plastic and cheap leather, and very generic. 5 series are nice yes! but interior compared to the GS no!

Why is the GSF slower? Honestly because starting out it is 10k cheaper than the M5 and if you have both fully loaded it is about 30k cheaper than the M5. So yes the GSF is slower 4.5 compared to 4.2 but you also get to have between 10-30k back into your pocket. If all you care about is 0-60 time you would buy the E63 AMG S which is 3.5 sec wouldn't you? 0-60 times are important I agree but everyone here knows that if Lexus tried to come out with the fastest car it would also make them the most expensive car and they would be bashed for that. At least now they can say yeah we are slightly slower but you can have 30k back into your pocket and a car that is reliable. We all need to remember this Lexus is extremely young compared to BMW and even younger when it comes to performance. I mean who would of thought 10 years ago that we would have an LFA? An ISF? RCF? GSF? And now the first ever 10 speed transmission in a car LC? They have changed a lot and it has been extremely quick even though most of us would like all that tomorrow! Be proud of Lexus for the changes and look to the future where they will beat down on all competitors!

James, you are 100% correct. People with small minds, who normally are not in a position to EVER buy a car like this, just want to Internet race.
I choose to drive an IS F Sport because I've been buying Lexus since 2006 and personally driving one since 2008.
Prior to that, I spent most of my driving career behind the wheel of a GM V8 powered Pony car.
I, maturely, learned long ago not to get caught up in the "I'm faster than you, therefore I'm better than you" trap.
There is ALWAYS someone out there faster than you. And why do you care?
In my nine years around the Lexus brand, Lexus customers do not choose Lexus because it's faster than brand X.
It's chosen because of its prestige; it's fanatical desire to deliver a good looking and reliable product; offer a consistently outstanding ownership experience from showroom to service department.
I've sampled, driven, considered German cars and even Japanese competitors Acura and Infiniti.
Yes, I could choose to select another model with more HP and faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. But Lexus presents the right combination of performance, luxury and attractive exterior and interior packaging that keeps me loyal.
In practical application on city streets in most metropolitan cities, who cares if your overpriced, unreliable, cult like German McBland mobile is .5 faster?

The interior of a BMW (and also Audi) is boring, and not a little bit, it's Spartan.
And this said by someone who lives in Europe....
