    2021 Lexus IS Megathread

There's the IS300h which they'll launch in other markets (that should help with emissions?) And while Lexus does have a strong record sales across Europe in 2019, the IS Hybrid sold 3,475, ES hybrid 4,292 (roughly 3/4 of the ES) GS hybrid 35 and LS hybrid 200 so a total of 8,002 hybrid sedans...

    2021 Lexus IS Megathread

What was the reason they decided not to sell it in Europe? Without the IS the sedan line up for Lexus is pretty lame for a luxury brand, ES and LS (not counting the RC) so unless the SUV can make up for that gap the IS left (which I am not sure as I don’t think the IS is a cross shopping...

New Solid-State Battery Developed for Lexus Electric Vehicles

I am pretty certain that my next car will be an electric or cleaner alternative versions to gas/diesel. However, it seems only Tesla is pushing the boundaries of maximum range, with the news Tesla Roadster earmarked with a ranged of 1,000 KM, c. 600 miles. I am huge fan of Lexus but if they...

    2021 Lexus IS Megathread

Canceled GS and IS not being sold in Europe. This is really disappointing news, the entry level sedan is now going to be the ES. Bearing in mind that in many European countries the ES is roughly EUR 10k more than IS making it roughly 40-45k. Besides, the ES is not a substitute to the IS, not in...

Looking back, was Akio Toyoda the right man for the job?

I think the GS was always a misunderstood, a misfit. In terms of size, the ES was larger than the GS by quite a big margin, however in terms of price and performance the GS was way pricier and better. So instead of selling it as a 5 series or e class competitor, it should have been an Audi A7...

    The Lexus LM Minivan Megathread

The gear shifting is still the old one, why not getting the newer ones?

    Lexus Europe Sales in 2018

One of the biggest grips I have with the IS is the lack of rear space and trunk space. The generation from 05 to 12 wasn't very roomy compared to the Germans, even when car sizes were fairly similar. In addition, the European market until recently was very dependent on diesel models (good fuel...

    Lexus Europe Sales in 2018

I think the only diesel model that reached Western Europe were the Lexus IS 220d and 200d (downsized version of the 220d). And it made a lot of sense due to reliability (the 220d was the worst in Lexus history and forced them to come up with the 200d), performance and fuel economy.

Lexus UX Crossover to Run Hill Climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

The UX might not be the successor of the CT as they are different segment cards and the hatchback is still an important one in Europe. I hope we can see a new CT with better engine options.

    Reviews: The 2019 Lexus ES 350 & ES 300h

Pricing has been announced for Spain, starting from 45k EUR (ES 300h) IS 300h starts from 36k while GS 300h starts from 54k. I honestly thought they wanted to price it around 38-39k vis-a-vis the US market but they decided to upgrade it to a new pricing tier so it betters differentiates itself...

    Reviews: The 2019 Lexus ES 350 & ES 300h

As far as I know, Lexus told the press that the ES is competing against the C Class and 3 Series. The guy just heard that since they are discontinuing the GS in Europe, the ES would be replaced model (which it is) but does not occupy the same segment as the GS. I too hope these preproduction...

    Reviews: The 2019 Lexus ES 350 & ES 300h

While it is "replacing" the GS as the model to be offered, it is not replacing the segment the GS was competing in. This message should also be conveyed thoroughly to EU customers because this car does not have the GS price tag but IS price, therefore, the quality is commensurate to that price...

    Reviews: The 2019 Lexus ES 350 & ES 300h

This British reviewer has confused people since he thinks the ES is an E Class competitor, which it isn't and the source of all the complaints about flimsy and plasticky touch inside the car (to me the ES is better than the C class or 3 Series in terms of quality levels). In the European market...

Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept Megathread [LF Coming in 2023?]

LT sounds much better and it kind of fits with the current use of the T in CT. Why make a complete new letter associated with other brands and no history in Lexus.

Official 5th Generation GS Thread: Returning with Hydrogen Power?

The CT is still alive in other markets and we have recently seen news that the compact hatchback market is a profitable and important one for Europe and Asia, so we will be expecting a new CT here. The HS has been discontinued for Lexus Japan. First announcement was made on December 11 2017 and...

Lexus Discontinues GS Sedan in Europe

What I don't understand is why would they discontinue based on regulations. Isn't it always about carbon emissions unless theres some other requirement here that Lexus can't comply? But what could that be? If it's emissions, isn't hybrid engines enough because I can't fathom a diesel but not a...
