Toyota Is More Profitable Than Tesla For First Time Since 2021

English is not my native language, but my understanding of "profitable" is returning more profit in total. And Toyota has been achieving that every single quarter with the single exception of Q3 of 2022. In my opinion what Jalopnik meant is "Toyota has higher profit margin per vehicle sold than...

Introducing the Lexus LF-Z Electrified Concept

Stunning design. Love the backwards extended dome top and the upwards elongated back. Very LF-FC-ish. Also, excellent job in "masking" the extended rear axle - it looks pretty natural compared to some BEV designs e.g. Mach-E whose rear axle looks weird.

Lexus – premium brand or just an expensive Toyota?

I always wandered myself what stopped them from releasing 1st Gen IS with 2JZ-GTE.

    2021 Lexus IS Megathread

Traffic is horrible though, speed cameras are everywhere and overtaking is regarded as a deadly crime, so all these BMW, Audi and Benzes are mostly for showing off. 1st and 2nd generation for me were the pinnacle of automotive design for a compact sedan. The 3rd gen was only about average...

    2021 Lexus IS Megathread

Looks sell better than tech it seems. I would buy one if they were available here in Switzerland. This is what the original 3IS should have looked like in 2013.

    Second Generation Toyota Mirai

Yes, I agree completely - I was kidding in the post above. Having BEV zealots daring to call themselves Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA) does not mean Toyota should do the same.

    Second Generation Toyota Mirai

I liked that "Negative emission vehicle". They should use it as a slogan to piss again the EV fanboys still sore from "self-charging hybrid". More details here:

New Solid-State Battery Developed for Lexus Electric Vehicles

Thanks for the article. No essential news though - the title hints on cooperation between Toyota and Murata, but this is not the case. They go with separate technologies and applications - Toyota (or rather Prime Planet Energy, their joint venture with Panasonic) with sulfides and automobiles...

Akio Toyoda Says Tesla is Just a ‘Recipe’, Toyota a ‘Kitchen and Chef’

Toyota is actively developing solid state batteries. It makes no sense for them to invest heavily in BEVs based on today's soon-to-be-outdated tech. Tesla fanboys are good laugh sometimes.

    Second Generation Toyota Mirai

Impressive development progress, indeed. 128 kW power out of 32 kg fuel cell stack is nothing short of incredible. Also worth mentioning are the "air purification" qualities of the Mirai and the FCEVs in general. The induction air is thoroughly filtered of PM2.5, nitrogen carbides and sulfur...

New Solid-State Battery Developed for Lexus Electric Vehicles

Yes, this is exactly how C-rate is defined: https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/what_is_the_c_rate#.X2XpyzHILWE.link Different solid state electrolytes have different ionic conductivities. Polymers (this Mercedes-Benz SSB) have lowest ionic conductivities of all, hence the low...
