If you look at individual breakdowns, the RX sold over 40k more Units than the next vehicle in its class.

And again the NX sold 2nd/3rd best.

ES sold well for a sedan.

Mercedes-Benz said SUVs accounted for 65% of its sales last year, with the new GLA and GLB representing more than a quarter of that total. The Lexus GX midsize SUV, which starts at $53,000 and hasn’t been fully upgraded in 10 years, saw big gains at the end of the year.
GX comes in clutch...did it have some good incentives I wonder.

they also have very low stock... BMW has 23k vehicles, MB has 27k vehicles and Lexus has 18k vehicles.

For Europe Lexus was down 19% YoY:

Also, Lexus’ core volume sales come from its SUV range – RX, NX, UX, GX and LX with combined sales of 57,833 vehicles made up 81% of total volume... This really shows why they killed the IS for us...
Lexus sold more CT's than IS's...
ES alone sold almost as many as CT's and IS's combined!

I guess a new NX will help, but it seems to me like most of Lexus' upcoming models will not be particularly EU-friendly: RX, TX, LX, IS 500, etc.

Doesn't seem like CT will be replaced because of UX, but what other models does Lexus need in Europe to be more competitive? Would something like a mini GX be a good bet there? Or are there any new CT rumors? I have to believe that an updated ISh might have been a decent seller in Europe, but I understand why it hasn't happened.

GX and LX aren't offered in western Europe, our biggest SUV is the RX. And at least for this side of Europe I don't see a lot of luxury off-roading, I only see it, for example, in Russia...

What amazed me was Lexus best-seller, our current (and old-ish) NX with more than 18.000 units!

Overall, what's coming isn't very EU friendly but good things are coming:
  • UX300e, BEV's are booming around here, I'm just doesn't sure Lexus priced it correctly... EQA is coming and is (rumored to be) around the same price (if not cheaper) with faster DC charging @ CCS (it's the way we're going), more powerful and (also rumored) to have better range... I'm hoping for a improved powertrain with the facelift with the rumored 18650 battery cells and CCS otherwise it will suffer.
  • All-new NX, we all know it's old and being our best-seller it can only be a good thing! It will also launch a new PHV option to Lexus... All the competition is selling really well (XC60 T8, GLC350e/de, X3 30e,...) due to fiscal incentives for both companies and private buyers.
  • All-new RX, is our second best seller, with a similar opinion as stated above for the NX with respective competition.
  • By the end of 2021, UX's facelift.
With this 3 models (UX+NX+RX) totals 76% of European sales...

I've said before, I would love to see a new CT sedan PHV with the 2.0L HSD engine to make a 3 car sedan line-up (CT / ES / LS), but given all non-SUV models only amount to 15%... It's hard to go against Lexus decisions from a financial point of view...

Still so weird to me as IS launched in Europe first in 1997 specifically for that market. Hence “international sedan”

Crazy how the market can change. Though I’m not sure if Europe ever for the right IS engine combos it needed to succeed.

For western Europe CT and Yaris Cross based CUV, as well as plugin versions of new NX and RX.
PHEV versions are important as there are big incentives in Europe for that now.

Overall they had a good year in Europe with covid and all, they dropped less than market.

Dont forget that TMME sales are very divided between Western Europe - small, hybrids, plugins, evs - similar to Japan and Russia (similar to US/CN) - big, petrol only, SUV and Lexus is competitive with other brands in Russia, it outsells Audi, etc.

To actually see what is sold well in Western Europe, just look at hybrid numbers - UX, NX, RX, CT, ES... and then in Russia - it is actually RX, NX, LX, ES, UX.

So yeah, NX, RX and LX, as well as 450h+ versions will increase Lexus sales... additionally at least around here, Lexus is pretty expensive, vehicles like UX are priced well above best selling competitors.

and also overall, TMME is kicking arse in EU right now, they never had such a high market share and they are under CO2 numbers (VW had to pay $250m for CO2 fines), so they are giving credits to Mazda, Subaru and Suzuki in EU.

p.s. TMC has been now posting excel spreadsheet about their sales globally, per region, on their global site, so we can see exact Lexus, Toyota sales by region and for hybrids/phevs/bevs

Lexus should also bring in a 2 row GX as well which would be at a lower price point and have more cargo room than the 3 row GX. Bring in a diesel variant, a hybrid (GX 500h) and a GX 570 as well. This would also increase sales as well. F Sport the GX as well...and bring in Android Auto and more USB's...
