Come on, Cadillac. We're waiting for that compact SUV. Lincoln has the MKC out now, and Lexus the NX.

The SRX was a nice little SUV a few years ago but it's pretty dated now. Would like to see a nice upgrade to that puppy.

Also to the people concerned with NX cannibalizing RX sales, please do take into account that the new RX has officially been announced and will be going on sale later this year. I'm sure the slight drop in sales is attributed to many buyers waiting for that sexy beast!

Cadillac is working on a new compact SUV below the SRX (that will compete with the MKC, NX, Q3, and RDX), but it probably won't be ready until the 2017 model year.

Many, though are disappointed to learn that the new RX will not have a third-row seat, at least at first.....though one may be added next year.

Lexfather thanks for this monthly post yet again.

Some highlights:
  • Lexus second place overall in sales this month.
  • GX continues to impress with 2k+ sales.
  • NX sales impressive at 4k+, but Q5 and RDX still ahead. I speculate the NX sales are limited by capacity limitations to 3600-4000 monthly.
  • RC, GS, CT, RX, IS consistent in sales.
  • LS, LX, ES declining trend continues.

Yes, thanks for posting, Mike. Some interesting numbers. The first place slot for BMW seems somewhat surprising, considering the many complaints the company has gotten lately from the electric power steering and emasculated underpinnings. I suspect that some people are buying BMWs based on their past designs., and not noting the recent changes......or they don't care.

Well I know I was personally responsible for TWO of those sales...
Pair of matching 2015 Matador Red Mica sedans. One ES350 and one IS250 F Sport.

Were these vehicles that you (or your family) purchased or leased yourself, or was it, like I often do, helping others shop for, and get their own new vehicles?

Clearly the 4 series is the segment sales leader but look at the RC squeezing by the established Audi A5/S5! Good news to see it selling well for Lexus and its great ammunition for them to produce more coupes!
Interesting to me that the RDX continues to sell so well. I wonder what the catch is for buyers? Big standard V6?

Honda loyalty....and the new MMC 2016 arrived so they were blowing out the 2015 model which has all the technology of a 2004 RX. It's popular for its core of owners, it's not really a great vehicle.

I think the main reason is that they tailored the second-generation version to a more mainstream audience. The original model had a turbo in-line four (the first turbo four from Honda/Acura in the American market) that accelerated pretty much like an on/off switch.....after slight turbo-lag, all or nothing. Its suspension was overly-firm for most people and quite sport-oriented. Today's version is more moderate in both in ride comfort and in the more linear V6 response....widening its potential sales-appeal.

Agreed, thanks for bringing these sales stats here each month. I'm a numbers guy and greatly appreciate this data. Plus it saves me the trouble of going to the other dreaded site to see the monthly stats, lol.
