Lexus is conducting a safety recall involving certain Lexus IS and GS vehicles
June 26, 2018
PLANO, Texas (June 26, 2018) – Toyota Motor North America, Inc. today announced that it is conducting a safety recall involving certain Lexus models: Model Year 2006-2013 IS 350, Model Year 2010-2014 IS 350C and Model Year 2007-2011 GS 350, and GS 450h vehicles. Approximately 115,000 units are involved in the United States.

The involved vehicles are equipped with a certain 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine. The diaphragm material in the fuel pulsation dampers in this engine may harden over time and crack, causing fuel to leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

For all involved vehicles, Lexus dealers will replace the fuel delivery pipe with a new one containing improved pulsation dampers at no cost to customers. All known owners will receive a notification by first class mail starting in early August.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time. For the most up-to-date Safety Recall information on Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicles, customers should check their vehicle’s status by visiting toyota.com/recall and enter the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Safety Recall inquiry by individual VIN is also available at the NHTSA site: nhtsa.gov/recalls.

For any additional questions, customer support is also available by calling the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1.800.331.4331 or the Lexus Guest Experience Center at 1.800.255.3987.

Associated Press reports that approximately 121,000 IS 350, IS 350C, GS 350 and GS 450h cars worldwide are affected by the fuel delivery pipe / pulsation damper recall. Subtracting the roughly 115,000 cars recalled in the U.S. leaves about 6,000 vehicles subject to the recall sold outside the U.S.

For the record, the U.S. NHTSA Manufacturer Recall Number is J2F. Since the recall is still awaiting a remedy, a specific NHTSA Recall Number is not yet available.
