Love this commercial and the new gal (voice) is growing on me though I still like the old-school voice from the nineties.

Onto a strange observation... I'm hoping this is a simulation/commercial editing error and not the actual display. Notice the HUD's person location and steering direction? If the driver reacts in that way, he'd have killed her.

It's half flipped -- the HUD pedestrian should be on the opposite side. The system is supposed to highlight the pedestrian location:

This is interesting since I almost saw a pedestrian get destroyed the other day. I was in the turning lane waiting to turn left behind a car. We were waiting for people to finish crossing the street. This complete idiot in a Inifniti Q50 decides to illegally turn left from the right lane (par the course in Miami).. he floors it and saw the first two people walking but he must have not seen the third pedestrian. He must have been going 40 mph and the pedestrian was on their phone crossing the street.

The car must have been 2 inches away from hitting her. My passenger and myself both were in shock. I mean he could have killed her. Which brings me to the point of all this pre-collision stuff. If he has it and the pre-collision kicks in what happens if there is a car next to him? Does the car decide to hit a car before a person?

I really am going to have to read up on all this stuff because the scenerios are sometimes not so simple.

At least in the LS, the system will actively steer around the pedestrian as long as there is room within the lane. It will not break any lines (I believe even if there is no car in the other lanes).

I just narrowly missed a pedestrian who was blocked by a electric scooter today. Having such a system could be very helpful... Oh wait, in China the car might just be stuck forever due to all these bikes, scooters, and pedestrians crossing at will. One thing I genuinely dread of driving in a developing country is the general lack of safety awareness. Plus the law is explicitly pro-pedestrian (it is ALWAYS the driver's fault even if the pedestrian is trying to commit suicide).

Unless you're driving a tank in Tiananmen Square....On another related feature the LS500 hood has emergency raising staunchions to mitigate injury to a pedestrian. The LC has the same feature. The available Safety System Plus A uses a stereo camera setup and the front cross traffic alert adds Doppler radar sensing for seeing tangential traffic and giving you a heads up alert.

Not quite worth of it's own thread, but Lexus released a new LS commercial:

Thought the same... "immersive richness," "handcrafted details," 23speakers, 24" heads up display, twin turbo, advanced Multi-Stage hybrid, LS 500, LS 500h... the commercial reads like a fact sheet.

I would say Lexus USA is struggling with their commercials lately, but it seems all non-event commercials from luxury manufacturers are fact-driven with no passion.

I mean, look at this BMW commercial:
