Big win for the NX, well done! Amazing how some of these small CUVs have some big SUV prices with options.

Very good win indeed! Too bad the test didn't include the other best CUV in this class, the Audi Q5. Would have been nice to see how they stack up.

If you scroll down to the bottom they have a review on the Q5 diesel and explain why it wasn't included and the GLK (they just got rid of their tester)..basically the Q5 would have finished maybe around 3rd.... I don't think experts consider the RDX competition to those CUVs as its lacking way to much to luxury brands let alone a Kia, Hyundai, Rav-4 etc...

not that they'd win but wheres the Q5, Rdx,GLA, etc...?
GLA is clearly a class down from these vehicles. It's a tall hatchback, not a crossover.
The RDX is getting a heavy refresh this spring, so Acura didn't send one.
Audi doesn't carry the standard 2.0T engine in it's press fleet because it' so bad, so they were too embarrassed to compete.

The Q5 starts at $40k and is really supposed to compete with the Lexus RX.

Q5 competes directly with the X3 which competes with the new Lex. The RX is considered an X5 competitor.

Yeah the NX battles the Q5....I have a bit of time in the SQ5 and its way to small to be a RX competitor....the segment based on price might show it being a RX competition but the NX is more the Q5 size...

Definitely a great win for the NX! Surprised to see the insurance for the NX come out as 2nd highest in the group. I guess styling and performance do play a hand here. The two most radically-styled vehicles in the comparison also have the two highest insurance rates. Cost of ownership though is traditional Lexus, meaning it's very good.

I like the recap, kinda says it all hitting on key points:

"[The NX] comes well-dressed at the lowest as-tested price, with good cost of ownership and high marks for driving experience, cabin and leather quality, ride and handling balance, efficiency, and safety. And as [MT editor Edward] Loh asserted, its “engine sounds great under wide-open throttle, especially in Sport mode.”

Nice to see them bring up cost of ownership (driven by good resale value and high level of reliability), driving experience (including interior quality and ride/handling balance) and the importance of great-sounding engine at WOT which is important for a truly premium vehicle.
