- A refreshed 2027 Lexus NX prototype has been caught testing at the Nürburgring wearing heavy camouflage on the front and rear.
- Interior photos reveal a dramatically revised cabin heavily inspired by the new Lexus ES, with a flat, upright dash and a centrally mounted rectangular screen.
- The exterior points to a revised front end — new grille, bumper, and headlights — while rear details remain covered.
A lightly camouflaged 2027 Lexus NX prototype has been caught lapping the Nürburgring, and these spy shots give us our best look yet at what’s coming for one of Lexus’ best-selling CUVs.
While the front and rear are well-hidden under camouflage, the interior shots are the real headline, and NX fans should be encouraged by what they show.
2027 Lexus NX Interior
The biggest takeaway from these photos is the 2027 Lexus NX’s cabin overhaul. Peering through the windshield and side glass, it’s clear the current NX’s signature swooping, angled dashboard is gone. In its place is a much more upright layout that looks heavily inspired by the new Lexus ES.
A large, centrally placed rectangular infotainment screen is clearly visible, bringing the NX’s interior in line with Lexus’ latest design language.
This is exactly the kind of update the NX needs. The current interior, while functional, has started to feel behind the curve compared to what rivals are offering, and some buyers have been less enthusiastic about the 2022-2026 Lexus NX’s simple passenger side dash.
This refresh looks to update both technology and design, and keep the NX on top of the compact CUV class.
2027 Lexus NX Exterior
On the outside, this is clearly a refresh rather than a redesign, and that’s in keeping with the model’s current lifecycle. The body sides are largely uncamouflaged and look consistent with the current second-generation NX: the same roofline, the same door character lines, and same proportions.
The front end is disguised under heavy camo, which usually means there’s something worth hiding. The headlights visible at the edges of the wrap appear slimmer and more angular than the current units, and also show a different LED design. The overall shape of the fascia suggests a new grille and bumper design are on the way. It’s a meaningful refresh rather than a nip-and-tuck, though the NX remains instantly recognizable from any angle.
Out back, the rear fascia and taillights are also fully covered. What is visible: a set of dark, multi-spoke wheels that don’t match any current NX option. Whether those wheels are test-mule-only or a preview of a new option headed to the 2027 lineup remains to be seen but they suit the NX well either way.

This 2027 NX test mule looks ready for production and should be revealed over the next few weeks and months, but it certainly seems worth waiting for if the NX is on your shopping list.
