Teased: New Lexus F SPORT Model on the Way

Lexus has shared an early look of their next vehicle launch with Lexus Enthusiast, giving us an advance teaser before any other media outlets. But what does this teaser image reveal? Look closely enough, and there’s plenty of information that can be deciphered — let’s take a deep dive and see what’s what.

Despite the blurry details, this is clearly the same cover used on the 2UR-GSE 5.0L V8 engine from the RC F & GS F:

There are certainly no rules in regards to engine cover design, and there’s every possibility of a new powertrain lurking under this plastic shield. However, for the sake of analysis, let’s assume the V8 is the engine. The major difference is the logo — instead of the stylized F of the Lexus high-performance F brand, this new vehicle will be released as an F SPORT product.

The LC 500 is the only existing model to have the V8 and not offer a F SPORT option, but it feels too late in the coupe’s lifecycle to introduce such a model (Lexus does not generally change the engine cover as part of the F SPORT package). It could also be a V8 option for the LS, though again, the timing doesn’t seem right and the chance of aggravating current LS owners seems too great a risk.

All of this runaround logic brings us to the most obvious option — Lexus trademarked the IS 500 nameplate last year, and rumors from the usually-reliable Best Car Magazine suggest a V8 version of the IS has been in the pipeline for some time.

If this ends up being the vehicle behind the teaser, there’s really only one question left — will it simply be an engine option, or will it lead to bigger changes to the sports sedan? Are we about to see the return of IS F, albeit with a different nameplate?

More details are sure to come in the following days, stay tuned for more updates about this vehicle as we get closer to the reveal date.

Oh the feeling of having to wait is unbearable, take my money already Lexus!
Lexus, my bank account is ready!
"New breed of performance" and "dawn of a new era" to me, means it will have a new powertrain. I said it above that Lexus is most likely setting the stage for the next generation of F products by bringing this F-Sport out first.
That late into the cycle?
My guess is new gen RX 2022 MY.
Holding out hope it's a V8 RX to kick off the new gen

To late...
Edited: unnecessarily rude comment directed towards UX chief designer.

To comment on the new teaser by Lexus: looks like IS500 F-sport is almost 100% confirmed. 😍
I really can't wait to see how Matador Red Mica looks on an IS, this is awesome.
IS 500 geing lighter than RCF and GSF, and more powerful than first gen ISF, this could end being the fastest Lexus car without counting LFA and might come close to RCF TE.

Wonder what transmission it will get. Same as RCF or LC500?
Nice with a bit more powerful sedan (IS) in this age of SUVs. Perfect timing.👍
Plot twist its the ES 450h with E drive. 😂😂
Like Gecko said, I have no upgrade path forward from the IS350 because what I really want is the Lexus equivalent of the Genesis G70 and the Acura TLX Type-S. That is, a turbocharged V6 sport sedan with RWD / AWD and no loss in practicality, tech and comfort.

People love the Lexus reliability and the top notch build quality that is expected of the brand, but when your customers are in danger of being poached by Acura (of all brands) you know that you're in trouble.

How did you come up with that? The IS350 already weighs just under 3900 lbs. You are saying the IS500 would weigh less than an IS350?

I believe the current IS is around 3700 lbs.

Just wait....

No one targets those cars. They are nice entries. We are talking only a few people who left not some mass exodus. The type S is likely DOA.
If you want to see my thoughts, I posted a YouTube video and some stuff on IG. LE and myself received the image to post.

I’m super excited!

C&D had RWD at 3801 lbs. I was thinking the AWD version, which was just around 3900 lbs

Tested: 2021 Lexus IS350 F Sport Deserves a Better Engine (caranddriver.com)
Here is my guess:

Lexus IS500 and optional F-Sport package (standard RWD with optional AWD)
3.5 Liter V6 Twin Turbo
~ 400 HP
10 speed auto
F-Sport trim gets additional tuning.
or guys it could be ES F Sport V6 twin turbo :)
or guys it could be ES F Sport V6 twin turbo :)
the windows sill on the ES extends past the door, unlike the teaser image

3.4 L TT V6 longitudinal engine can't fit in FWD ES.

Agree with almost everything except Lexus already said that from the 2021 IS onwards, F-Sport means higher power engine.

There will no longer be a situation of IS350 F-Sport and IS500 non F-Sport. It will probably mean IS300, IS350 F-sport only, IS500 F-Sport only. There will be no IS350 non F-Sport nor IS500 non F-Sport
The suspense is...
It could be an RX 500...
it is IS. the rear windows is 100% clear%.

i just don't see the ttv6 in it. we don't know what happens with the RC, if it gets extended facelift or leaves place to IS and LC for coupe choice.
From the latest teaser image, I would prefer the chrome trim to be an option on this model. If I was able to buy, of course.
Last teaser image shows "concept" car. The red looks mat, and the black trim also looks mat instead of gloss. The window is also tinted dark.
This might help

Well, I can't wait for tomorrow.

didn't they also say they wouldn't be using the v8 in anything sub 90k or something to that effect
