Lexus has announced a safety recall of certain 2006-2013 models equipped with the 3.5L 2GR-FSE V6 engine — here’s a breakdown of the vehicles affected:
The issue revolves around the diaphragm material in the fuel pulsation dampers of the engine. These components may harden and crack over time, causing fuel to leak and increasing the risk of a vehicle fire.
For all involved vehicles, Lexus dealers will replace the fuel delivery pipe with a new one containing improved pulsation dampers at no cost to customers. All known owners will receive a notification by first class mail starting in early August.
According to The Associated Press, approximately 121,000 IS 350, IS 350C, GS 350 and GS 450h cars are affected worldwide. Of that, approximately 115,000 units are in the United States.
