Top Gear Battle: Lexus LC 500 vs Honda Civic Type R

We’re all in for a treat today — some friendly stranger has posted the Lexus LC 500 vs Civic Type-R race from a recent Top Gear episode:

BE WARNED, SPOILERS

The LC had everything stacked against it on this track: rear-wheel drive and a naturally aspirated V8 needs more straightaways to be effective. The Civic and its 2.0L turbo definitely had the advantage with all the turns and short straightaways, as it hits the power band sooner and longer.

(Really though, it’s all about the fun of watching two mismatched cars go head-to-head regardless of the winner. Top marks for Top Gear on this one.)

Apparently, Stig ran both cars and both ran a lap of 1:25.6

Wow, nobody here really cared about this at all -- judging from the site traffic logs, it was very popular on the BMW forums, for whatever reason.

I think people were expecting the whole segment to be dedicated to the LC500 highlighting all of its features, driving experience etc. Instead, they ended up making it all about a track lap comparison with the Civic Type R.
