Lexus Australia Reaches 20,000 All-Time Hybrid Sales Milestone

Lexus Australia has hit a significant milestone — 20,000 hybrid vehicles have been sold since 2006.

More impressive than the number is the rate of sale. It took almost eight years to deliver 10,000 hybrid vehicles, but just three-and-a-half years to double the total.

Now, one of every three Lexus vehicles sold in Australia is hybrid-powered. The most popular is the RX 450h.

Congratulations Lexus! Introduce more hybrid models and variants worldwide to increase sales of hybrids. In Australia they get the IS 300h, GS 300h and RC 300h as well. Please bring those model variants to the U.S. and Canada and this will increase sales of hybrids worldwide...and also bring the updated 2018 CT 200h back to the U.S. and Canada as well...

Most likely not :) In US you can't even get the above pictured LC500h with 21" wheels as an option or Performance package. Reminiscent situation to when current GS450h showed up. When the whole world was rockin GS450h with Lexus Dynamic Handling Package as standard in US it was only available in Luxury trim and that was it. Somehow they thought customers will go for plush but then they changed their minds and within few MY they ditched the Luxury trim completely in favor of F-Sport. The trend of confused RWD hybrid packaging is still strong in US with LC500h.

RWD hybrids are just not priority in US, they are only the PR weapon for now.
