Lexus Sets Global Sales Record in 2016

Lexus International is reporting 677,615 vehicles sold globally in 2016, a 4% increase over 2015 and the fourth consecutive record year of sales.

The big story this year was China breaking the 100k threshold with 109,151 total sales — this is the first time any region outside of the USA has eclipsed this mark.

Europe also had a banner year with 74,316 units sold, with 10 countries in the region setting new sales records. Japan followed with 42,149 vehicles sold, good enough for second overall in that country’s luxury market.

“We are pleased with our global sales in a very challenging luxury market where customers have more choices than ever. Such sales help validate the customer focus of our brand, the products, and the design direction of Lexus globally. As we continue to expand, our hope is to maintain this steady and sustainable growth, balancing the growth and sales between our established markets and emerging regions.” said Lexus International President Tokuo Fukuichi.
