Still surprised, and disappointed the car wasn't redesigned.  Wonder what their five-year plan is..... BD

When you think about the. The LS has always been a great car so there was no need for an overhaul. But from the front and interior the it does look like a overhaul. Lexus actually played this out well they just made the car better where it needed to be. I was upset also to see it looks similar in some area to the out going model but the out going model still looks good so there was no need to drop the design just improve it. I would expect the next gen LS to look totally different

I'm very disappointed as well that it wasn't redesigned and that APGS was dropped. At this rate I'm sure Akio Toyoda already has the 2015 LS prototype being readied for Japanese testing early next year. That car was likely designed in the last few months or might be finishing that process right now. We won't even see renders, speculation, or spy pics of it until next fall probably. Notice how he took no part in the '13 debut of their original flagship model? Lexus HQ basically left the U.S. branch to clean up their P.R. mess on why after 6 years only a facelift was only implemented.

There is a bigger story as to why the car wasn't properly redone, and Akio knows why. You can't blame Lexus USA out of hand.  Could be an issue related to the tsunami..... BD

I was thinking maybe Lexus was smart in doing this.... I would have liked to have seen a brand new LS also, but is it really necessary right now..? The economy is still "recovering" right now so sales in the upper luxury segments may not be doing as well at the moment. Also considering the latest design overhauls for the 7 series and A8, which to me look quite lukewarm and similar to previous model years as well, there is no real reason to go all out with an all new model... The S class is all new very soon, then I guess the 7 series and A8 will re-design within a few years. I think may be smart for Lexus to "chill" right now staving off the competition with this current re-design, which in my opinion will be competitive for at least a couple years until they do the engine/design upgrade... Then a brand new model will drop as the other companies will have had their all new models out for a little while, making the all new LS the new hot item.... Also good to see what new stuff the comp comes out with before doing an all new model....  Lol finally, I like the new upgrade so I guess we can wait a little while until there is a brand new one, I think they did a good job on this one.....

Part of the drop in sales was because of the economy. Another part was due to Lexus dealers. In 2010, they introduced the Sport package with a VERY nice interior yet dealers didnt order many and they didnt market that car properly. Ive seen 3 ads for '10 or '11 LS 460 Sport and none identified that it was the Sport model. Another was that so many were ordered with AWD, where the Sport package wasnt available. Also, the majority of cars were ordered without the Mark Levinson sound system, without which a LS just isnt an LS! Check out Dupont Registry used Lexus section. Lexus needs to make at least minor improvements every year, new colors, maybe even options and special editions. That's my take anyway.
