Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition Laps Nordschleife in 7:14

Wow ! That VERY quick ! Lexus you're such amazing ! Edit : the LFA in the video looks like have Roll-Cage , see the A-Pillar there .

I saw this on twitter when it was still un-confirmed and people were discussing it on CL. That is an AMAZING lap time!!! Imagine the time the LFA can get with non-street tires!!!  (Krew- I sent you a message via the message form ... not sure if you got it. Is email better??)

I saw this when Lexus E-U posted it last night at about 1AM I posted that on every YouTube video, Motor Trend Fastest Lap/Best handling page I could find! So sick of BowTie fanboys talking shit, like Vettes with superchargers are better than an LFA? Get the %$#@f47047b7f05121cbe86807a9300b7cf5:disqus outta here!   Toyota/Lexus, when they spend 10 YEARS building something, it will be way better than any plastic car with a supercharger! This car has owned the world since last year, because it is the %$#@! BD

Honestly I'm a bit disappointed the LFA Nurburing Edition should have set the fastest Nurburing time EVER!!! The Radical and Gumpert were produced around 2005, in six years the LFA couldn't beat the record is a let down for me.   Don't give me that they didn't use performance tire excuse either.  The LFA should have set a new Nurburing record even with Flintstone tires.

Lexus is cheating (at least if this video is supposed to prove the 7:14). As you can see on the video, start and finish is not the same. He starts at a 90 degree corner after the "Doettinger Hoehe" an at 7:14 is is just in the middle from the "Doettinger Hoehe" -far far away from the virutal finish line. This is 7:40 +/- . Why does Lexus think people are sooo stupid ?????

Lexus should release a press release to confirm the info. And a video by the way... so we can see this incredible achievement.

I had to look twice when I seen the official time,not because I didn't believe it,but because it blew away their own lap time from their old warm up lap a few months ago by so much.Who wants to bet we'll be hearing excuses from Porsche & Ferrari about what factors should not make this time official?The reason I have so much respect for Lexus & Toyota is because rather than being arrogent or making excuses,they allow the proof to be in the pudding & let their customers decide for them selves how good their products are.I was just thinking to my self last night that it must be almost time for an official lap time on the Nurbergring.I think doing 1 such lap my self(if I could)would have me both mentally & physically exhausted at the end! 

Now I hope they give it to the Stig for a power lap on the Top Gear test track If it's Dry, it should give the MP4-12C a good run Especially in the hands of the new Stig (the new Stig seems to be shorter and have a better power to weight ratio than the old Stig)

I can name a few cars that will do that in that price range

It's important to note also that this was accomplished with navigation,stereo,speakers,carpet,glass windows,etc. intact & not stripped out.

Mr. Lida - San has set this record on the full Nordschleife during a customer meeting with LF-A buyers held on wednesday 01.09. and thursday 02.09.2011. The news was brought to Mr. Tanahashi - San ( chief engineer LF-A project ) during the wednesday evening diner and he was delighted but said they had to wait till the record time was approved officially. The video with driver Lida-San is indeed part of the circuit as every LF-A customer was able to join one of the drivers for a quick lap on the track. Therefor it was during this time not possible to do a full lap as the cars had to go thru the pit. My best guess is that about 250 meters track was closed to organize this pit lane stop action. During the record setting the full track was open. From own experience I can say that sitting along side one of these drivers is quite interesting to say the least. The driver is well concentrated but also in a way relaxed. The LF-A feels very safe and stable sliding gently thru the curves with a speed you can not imagine sitting in the car yourself. Im not much of a driver and more a enduro motorbike person but going thru a certain set of curves with 155 Km/h was quite fast for me. Sitting along side Mr. Lida - San going thru the same set of curves with 230 + Km/h  was a eye opener. The LF-A's attending; 1 yellow, 1 silver, 1 white, 2 blue, 2 orange ( one with roll cage ) and 1 rolling chassis wich was the most interesting.

Huge achievement by Lexus/Toyota and regardless of the haters on the internet you can't go past the great engineering in this car.I own a TT Supra myself so I'm a huge fan of Toyota/Lexus's engineering and the LFA is yet another example of it.

I'm glad that I bought my Yaris last month.  After the Toyota mechanic told me that the Yaris Nurburing Edition lapped the Nurburing in 6 min flat I was sold!!!!

Lexus decided to do things differently for the Nurburgring edtion. This is exactly what they should have done last year when the launched the standard LFA. They should launched it with a huge bang just like they did with the Nurburgring edition. The whole internet is buzzing with this rumor and so many great reviews coming out for the Nurburgring edition by European publishers. It is looking great on Lexus.

While an incredible achievement, until we see the actual official release, we don't *really* know what exact equipment/tuning was done on the vehicle - just like whether it was a hot lap or not (which is one reason I loathe this whole lap time war nonsense).  I'm glad Lexus was able to push more out of the vehicle though - I just get annoyed that the internet is already awash with the 7:14 time, even though it isn't official.  It'll end up being the same nonsense drama that the GTR had and will end up getting flogs of people questioning whether the vehicle was a 'ringer or not or saying it is invalid because of the tires (again, as we don't know what was done to the vehicle). Personally, that's why I guess we can all rely on the "Top Gear" laptimes - the driver is constant, the track is constant, and the only vehicles allowed are full production models (often from people who have bought them and loan them to Top Gear) with street tires.  We just need to get one of the buyers to send their car to the Stig, and THAT will end the drama.

The car was completely stock on Potenza RE70 street tires. They are performance street tires. Lexus twitter confirmed, it was exactly in the same configuration that they will have to deliver to customers.

There are just a handful of Lexus LFA supercars running around in Australia but already, the Japanese luxury car maker has launched a performance-enhanced model named after the legendary Nurburgring race track in Germany. It's called the LFA Nurburgring Edition and is a more track-focused version of the LFA -- if that's possible. Only 50 will be made. TECHNOLOGY Where the standard LFA runs a 412kW/480Nm, 4.8-litre V10 engine, the Nurburgring model is pumped up to 420kW with the same torque output. The compact, dry sump V10, hand-built in two days at motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha by one of four engine builders, features cylinder heads by Yamaha and a block from Toyota. Yamaha has a long association with Toyota, Lexus' parent company. The LFA engine uses high quality forged pistons, valves and conrods and has direct fuel injection among a raft of high tech' features. It's fitted front/midships and is connected, transaxle style, to the rear-mounted six- speed automated manual transmission by a carbon fibre torque tube. This gives the rear drive LFA an ideal 48/52 balance front to rear. Engine redline is 9000rpm. Both the standard and Nurburgring models are capable of despatching a 0-100kmh dash in around 3.7 seconds and top out at 325kmh. This is slap bang in supercar territory and up with the latest from Ferrari and Lamborghini. DESIGN The fully kitted standard model weighs in at 1580kg, the Nurburgring model is 100 kegs less. It has more down force courtesy of a large, fixed, rear carbon fibre wing, winglets on the front bumper, larger front spoiler, low 100mm ride height and carbon fibre interior trim. The double wishbone front and multi link rear suspension has been slightly retuned with stiffer responses. Lexus didn't hold back on quality components for LFA equipping it with carbon ceramic front discs of 390mm diameter with six piston calipers. The rears are slightly smaller with four pistons. Forged alloy 20-inch wheels run Bridgestone high performance rubber and the KYB dampers feature remote reservoirs for superior and consistent performance. Buyers score race tuition and a year's pass to drive the Nordscheleife (Northern Loop) of the Nurburgring. LFA is an incredible car from a technical standpoint because apart from the mind boggling engine with arguably the best exhaust note in existence, it is 65 per cent carbon fibre with the majority of the chassis and body in the stuff. The rest is aluminium. Lexus attaches the two materials to each other with aluminium brackets baked into the carbon fibre. Special carbon fibre ovens and techniques to handle it were developed during the 10 year LFA program which started in 2001. Initially, the car was to be all aluminium but this was changed in 2005 to carbon fibre. Lexus makes 20 LFAs a month with total production amounting to only 500 units. It is a loss making enterprise for Lexus which obviously places greater value on the publicity and new perceptions LFA will generate. DRIVING Marking the arrival of the Nurburgring Edition was a special test week held at the Nurburgring to which we were invited and allowed five unfettered laps of the 21km Nordschleife. It was like a bucket-list tick off for anyone with benzene in their veins - a supercar drive at the world's most demanding race track with 140 plus corners and a fearsome reputation. With a degree of trepidation, we sprung out of pit lane in the orange projectile for a pilot lap behind a Nurburgring specialist leading in a Lexus ISF. This 'sighting' lap took around 9 minutes and then it was over to us. The LFA is near perfect weapon for the Nordschleife because it has almost endless power and torque, controlled and responsive dynamics and brakes that never go away. We would be ripping up to a tight turn at warp speed and simply stab the brakes, flick the wheel a touch and the LFA was around and the right foot was (re) planted to the firewall. It steers with such precision and has such prodigious grip that an accompanying Lexus ISF race car looked like a bucking dray. But that's not fair, the LFA is a tame race car built to impeccable standards while the ISF is a weighty, sports luxury sedan. It's intersting that none of the owners of the first run of LFAs has taken it on a race track. Shame, but word has it that some of the 10 Aussie LFA owners will break the cycle - here's to them. PRICE Standard car is $750,000, but add $80k for Nurburgring Edition.

Guys, Lots of great videos and articles posted here. Chris Harris (European journalist) is going nuts over the Lexus LFA. He is writing a full feature on the Nurburgring edition for EVO magazine. On a side note: The LFA will be on Top Gear USA this Sunday on the history channel I hope they hand it over to the American Stig - I would be interested to know how it does on their track

I've driven the standard LF-A around the ring in just over 8 minutes myself, and that's without knowing the ring good enough. I've also had a ride with Hiroaki Ishiura, clocking 7:27 with the NBR package. With no dead meat (mening me) in the car, tires in right conditions, and a totaly free run, I'm 100 % shure he or Akida Iida are able to do 7:14. The LF-A is far from the strongest car I've driven, but absolutely the best tuned. Therefore also the fastest.  Amazing!
