Last week, I got into a discussion with a couple guys from Lexus College about the best Mark Levinson sound system, with me preferring the LX 570, and both of them choosing the system in the new GS.
For me, the LX 570′s 19-speaker system is the absolute top — when it comes to music, I am generally a man of simple tastes, and have a tendency to listen to heavy bass. Due to its size (I would imagine), the LX has an airy, open sound that gives those two extreme opposites room to breathe.
In contrast, the Lexus College guys are classic rock listeners, and the GS ML system is tighter, crisper — it brings out the complexity in music, .
With this in mind, I went back through some of my old favourites — mostly Led Zeppelin & Fugazi — and it’s been an absolute revelation, to a point where I wonder if they will ever sound the same again.
Bottom line: Mark Levinson FTW.
