Photo Galleries: The 2014 Lexus IS in Austin, Texas

This afternoon, I spent some time working through photos from last month’s Lexus IS press event in Austin — here’s a new IS in a variety of different colors:

The Lexus color palette really works the design of the new IS, though I did prefer the F SPORT edition in darker colors. Favorite color of the day had to be Matador Red Mica, followed by Obsidian — both colors seemed to suit the personality of the new model.

(There’s some great driving roads on the outskirts of Austin, but finding good photo locations was a real challenge.)

The first IS300 scored 4-5k a month in sales in Year 1 The current car did the same No reason this won't also. But they have all tailed off after fast starts. Lexus needs to do something to keep interest high throughout it's cycle..... BD

Someone knows what the purpose is of the protective(?) triangle-strip on the rear doors ? Why on that specific place ? You see it best on the last picture of the silver lining series. BTW: great picture KREW ! Thanks for sharing.

It is to protect the panels. It's normally on any panels that protrudes outside the normal lines.

2014 Lexus IS 350 F SPORT in Silver Lining Metallic was my fav colour.. Most cars looks cheap and nasty in silver, but Lexus has really nailed it with their silver in this new IS350

The best colors are the red and the blue from a few posts earlier. There are already too many silver and black cars on the street. In 2012 our new car market was made up of 35% silver and 30% black cars. It is just boring to see cars with these colors, no matter how stylish and new the sheet-metal design may be.
