Just received word from site sponsor VAIS Technology about their new SL2iC iPod integration unit — check out these photos:
The SL2iC will feature a touchscreen iPod interface along with the ability to play videos directly on the nav screen — two fantastic features to be sure. Initially, only 5th generation Lexus navigation systems, but it will then be ported to both the 3rd and 4th generation systems shortly.
The SL2iC will be available in September directly from VAIS Tech’s website. More details shortly.
Although it’s strictly a remix of the previous commercial and the LFA launch video, it does a great job at explaining a key element of the LFA’s appeal — the wonderful sound of that engine.
As part of the Lexus LFA media blitz, German auto website Sport Auto received a new scrollbar:
I’ve tried my best to see myself on the Sport Auto website, but to no avail — cute idea, though I wonder how well it would bear up to repeated exposure.
Lexus USA has just put out a commercial for the Lexus LFA:
It’s a nice play on the one of the inaugural LS 400 commercials (and was revisited during the LS 460 launch), and will be part of a wider campaign promoting the halo supercar. The NY Times has more details:
The online elements, scheduled to start on Wednesday, will include home-page takeovers on MSN and Yahoo, the creation of custom content on Web sites like foxsports.com and mlb.com; and the commercial running by means of a full episode player on sites like hulu.com.
The print ads will run, beginning in July, in magazines like Esquire, GQ and Wired. The outdoor ads will appear in 11 major markets, among them Dallas, Miami, New York and San Francisco; one went up on Tuesday and the rest are due on Wednesday.
The 3D commercial will appear starting on July 2 in theaters that will show the 3D movie “The Last Airbender,” Mr. Nordstrom said.
With the entire 500-unit production run spoken for, this media blitz has nothing to do selling the LFA — instead, this is about bringing some much-deserved publicity to the supercar, especially among the general public. The incredible cost required to develop the LFA may never be recouped in sales alone, but the LFA means much more to Lexus than a monetary return-on-investment.
(I wonder when the first movie appearance will be?)
Last month, we saw behind-the-scenes footage for a new Lexus commercial featuring all versions of the IS — now here’s the finished product as part of a new IS section on the Lexus Canada website:
Lots of energy to the site, and definitely worth clicking through — the video quality is just fantastic. Very sleek, indeed.
