Lexus LS: 3rd Generation

Lexus LS Generations Desktop Wallpapers

This week’s Autocar review of a 1990 LS 400 reminded me of a desktop wallpaper I’ve had sitting on my computer for quite some time:

Lexus LS Generations II

I had featured a very similar image some time back, which still stands as one of my favorite Lexus desktop wallpapers of all time — here it is again:

Lexus LS Generations I

The transition from that first generation LS 400 through to the LS 460 is dramatic, but there’s a clear & natural progression that brings the LS a striking continuity. I would love to find similar images of all the Lexus models.

Lexus Wallpaper of the Week: LS Generations Part Two

To celebrate Lexus’ 20th anniversary, Club Lexus member Encore888 created a desktop wallpaper showcasing the four generations of the LS:

For comparison, there was a similar wallpaper featured last year, though with this head-on angle, it’s much easier to see how each generation built on the previous design.

Great work! (Thanks Dan!)

Lexus LS 430 Commercial: The Rear-View Camera

Here we have a commercial for the revised Lexus LS 430 that debuted in 2004, demonstrating the then-new backup camera option:

That crazy spin at the end is icing on the cake.

VIP Twin Turbo Lexus LS 430

Perhaps it’s my love of the stock Lexus LS 430, but this VIP’d up version is a real head scratcher:

Can’t say I’m a real fan of the Fabulous body kit and its massive front lip, but the thing that stood out the most were the blown-out rear wheel wells. I understand the reasoning, massive wheels are a standard, but this particular implementation leaves a lot to be desired.

Under the hood, the LS engine was replaced with a 2JZ Supra Supercharged V6, which pushes out the power, but surely breaks the serenity of the cabin.

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
