Lexus LS: 2nd Generation

Lexus LS Generations Desktop Wallpapers

This week’s Autocar review of a 1990 LS 400 reminded me of a desktop wallpaper I’ve had sitting on my computer for quite some time:

Lexus LS Generations II

I had featured a very similar image some time back, which still stands as one of my favorite Lexus desktop wallpapers of all time — here it is again:

Lexus LS Generations I

The transition from that first generation LS 400 through to the LS 460 is dramatic, but there’s a clear & natural progression that brings the LS a striking continuity. I would love to find similar images of all the Lexus models.

1997 Top Gear Feature on the Lexus LS 400 & GS 300

From 1997, here’s a Top Gear feature on the freshly updated Lexus LS 400 and the brand new GS 300:

It’s no surprise that presenter Quentin Wilson is extremely positive about Lexus in this feature, the refreshed second-generation LS and the just released second-generation GS were quite a formidable pairing. However, I was surprised by Wilson’s confession that he was personally on his second LS—I wonder how he felt about Jeremy Clarkson blowing up an LS 400 with a machine gun.

Lexus Wallpaper of the Week: LS Generations Part Two

To celebrate Lexus’ 20th anniversary, Club Lexus member Encore888 created a desktop wallpaper showcasing the four generations of the LS:

For comparison, there was a similar wallpaper featured last year, though with this head-on angle, it’s much easier to see how each generation built on the previous design.

Great work! (Thanks Dan!)

Tony Soprano & The Lexus LS 400

It’s always a blast seeing your favorite cars featured in TV and movies, and what what an appearance the Lexus LS 400 made in the first episode of the Sopranos (Warning: Contains coarse language and violence, viewer discretion advised):

I don’t even like my girlfriend driving my car, and she’s not in the habit of running people down. If you ask me, Christopher should have given Tony a pop in the jaw.
