Lexus was named the best car manufacturer in the annual Auto Express Driver Power survey, finishing first in the engine and transmission category and scoring high for design and reliability among UK drivers.

The individual models also performed, with the RX & CT in the top ten for Best Car to Own. The RX, CT, & NX also finished in the top ten for Most Reliable Cars .

The annual Driver Power Survey polled nearly 50,000 vehicle owners for information about 150 different cars. The study covers a wide range of categories, including reliability, build quality, handling, performance, and running costs.

Auto Express has just released some of its 2018 Driver Power Survey results. As reported on the Lexus UK Media Site:

LEXUS CROSSOVERS HONOURED IN AUTO EXPRESS 2018 DRIVER POWER SURVEY
The UK’s motorists have once again backed Lexus models as the best you can own with three gold and a silver award in the Auto Express 2018 Driver Power survey.

This year it is the Lexus self-charging hybrid crossovers that have impressed most, with the RX 450h and NX 300h respectively topping the rankings in the Premium Large SUV and Premium Mid-size SUV categories.

The NX had the added distinction of being rated the best model overall for reliability and build quality, while the Lexus IS saloon was the silver award winner in the Compact Executive Car class

Steve Fowler, Auto Express Editor-in-Chief, reflected on Lexus’s sustained success in the Driver Power survey. He said: “Lexus has been a fixture at the top of the Driver Power tables since day one, so it’s no surprise to see the Lexus NX and Lexus RX topping their categories this year – owners of these Lexus SUVs obviously love their cars very much. Even better news is that their cars are unlikely to go wrong, as is proved by the NX coming top in the reliability and build quality category – an outstanding result.”

Ewan Shepherd, Director of Lexus in the UK, said: “The results of the Driver Power survey are based on people’s real-world experiences, so they give us confidence that we are succeeding in our efforts to continually improve the quality of both our cars and service to customers. The exceptional performance of our RX and NX models this year helps pave the way for the next addition to our crossover line-up, the all-new compact UX, later this year.”

This year’s Driver Power survey is based on the responses of more than 80,000 motorists to questions about the performance of the vehicles they drive and the quality of the service they have received from manufacturers, retailers and service and repair centres
A visit to the Auto Express Driver Power home page reveals a large number of survey categories with widely varying annual dates. Some haven't been updated since 2016. Others have 2017/18 results. And still others (such as the "Best Manufacturer" rating that Lexus won in June of last year) haven't been updated for 2018.
Lexus repeats its victory and is crowned Best Manufacturer in the 2018 Auto Express Driver Power Survey. Here are highlights from the Lexus UK Media Site news release:

Based on the opinions of more than 80,000 UK motorists, the results of this year’s survey show Lexus topping the rankings when it comes to interior quality, comfort and build quality.

Lexus’s advances in vehicle safety, including the wide provision of Lexus Safety System+ active technologies, helped secure it the highest score for safety.

Although a luxury brand, Lexus also performed strongly on running costs, placed fourth overall. Its leadership in efficient self-charging hybrid technology earned it second place in the engine and gearbox category.

Steve Fowler, Auto Express Editor-in-Chief, said: “This is the third time in four years that Lexus has topped our Driver Power manufacturer league table, proving that when it comes to satisfied customers it leads the way. With a growing product range that’s getting better and better, it’s a brand that is setting new standards for other premium car makers to aim for.”
And here's what Auto Express' 2018 Best Car Manufacturers 2018 page has to say:

1. Lexus – 92.22%
Key points:
Another Lexus win. Scores well everywhere, but infotainment is slipping.
Cars with reported faults: 9.0%

Yet another manufacturer win for Lexus. No other brand can match it in our satisfaction survey, with Lexus a perennial favourite among owners.

It ranked first in the interior and comfort stakes, thanks to excellent scores for comfort and quality, while owners also felt their cars are the safest on the market. Reliability and build quality is another Lexus stronghold, with the brand taking the class win. The company’s products place well on running costs, too, ranking an impressive fourth in the sector. The marque’s focus on efficient hybrids and petrol units is clearly paying off. These same hybrid and petrol units are praised with a second place in the engine and gearbox category, too.

However, if the company wants to repeat this year’s performance in 12 months’ time, it needs to address the infotainment category, where it ranked a lacklustre (by its standards) seventh in 2018.

Interested to know where this ES will fit into the pricing of Lexus - in South Africa the ES has been the cheapest Lexus available coming in below the Is. The Ct is only available here on order very few on our roads.
Well done to Lexus should be a good sales year ahead their model range has greatly improved and are indeed interesting and stylish.
