Lexus to Debut New Vehicle at Los Angeles Auto Show

Lexus is scheduled to debut a new model at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 29th, according to the official LA show website.

There are no other details at this time, with the website showing only a generic placeholder image and boilerplate text. This makes the whole thing perfect for some off-the-cuff speculation.

There are so many rumored models in the Lexus pipeline — what’s your guess? Let’s move over to the forums to discuss.

Has to be the UX rt? I mean LCF isn't a new model since it's part of the LC rt?
UX would have been my first guess but considering Tokyo is before LA I don't know. This would be a hard guess.
LS (new V8) or ES(new redesign).

Also there is a post in one of the forum talking about a surprise from Lexus during the dealer meeting. May be that's the surprise vehicle.
I think Lexus will debut the 3 row RX and the new UX crossover.
NEW CONCEPT ?
It has to be RX L... perfect debut for the demographic in LA.

I think it is the RX three row crossover because it's the only model we've seen through spy shots. Now, yes, we have seen the next ES, but those are too new to be coming out this soon (and the RX-L was spotted first). BUT could that be considered a "new model"? Not sure.

Unless it's a special edition of an existing model, there are three potential vehicles that have to be close to production release -- the next-generation ES, the UX subcompact, and the RX-L.
  • ES is a major debut with multiple variants and multiple story angles. LA is far too close to the holiday season to start building momentum, and I would suspect it's slated for a Beijing/NY debut.
  • UX will likely sell well in North America, but it's a Europe/Japan model first and foremost. Right now, this is my guess for the Tokyo show.
This leaves the RX-L, which as @Gecko says, is a perfect fit for the LA show. It's based on an existing model, there's little story to tell beyond the extended cabin, and everything points towards it being a 2018 release.

That said, it could be a production version of the Sriracha IS.

New vehicle might be anything, even a version of an existing model. Therefore my personal guess is either IS F or a Lexus RC Cabrio. Eventually RX as a 7 seater. UX is still in development and known, so it won't be it.
LS(v8) is also a perfect for LA since the LS goes on sale next year.
the RX L and UX might be for next month Tokyo
maybe an ES concept

Agree with @Gecko ... RX L
Yeah it sounds like RX-L is the best bet for LA.

but one could argue that a high-performance GT luxo-coupe would also be perfect for the demographic.

Agree with you as all other
LA and RX is so synonymous together

UX will be perfect if it will be a surprise in Frankfurt even approximately 100% of Frankfurt cars are all well known, because it will really be bad decision if they will unveilling it at Tokyo, in Tokyo there will be new crown, new supra and the UX will be forgotten after
A follow up to this spicy car? (I'll put my flame suit on) :D

even though I am not at all interested, I agree with everyone who says the RX L is likely; Lexus is making a lot of $$ on SUVs and this one is really a quite exceptional version of the RX. It will sell and it is very cool for a SUV, pack em in with comfort and luxury;
I would bet RX L as well.....

I'm still so annoyed by that as you can see from my avatar.
RX-L seems like reasonable guess... what could be Toyota new model though?

Not really. LA is pretty synonymous with mainstream luxury launches. Detroit gets the biggest and most notable debuts. Chicago is more of a pedestrian show that is heavy on refreshes and special editions. New York is somewhat of a mix.

LA is also one of Lexus' biggest markets and they will sell a ton of RX Ls there.
I'm thinking the RX350L I know it's coming in early spring.
C
Yep, my guess too is RX L because it's being showcased in the US.

Tokyo, likely the UX. ES is still early considering Lexus is at least on a 6-year generation run.

Now the question is, any guesses on release dates for the UX and RX L? Surely they will not be released at or near the same time possibly making one model a 2019 and the other a 2018. I'm thinking in the N.A. market, the RX L will be released first, possibly as early as March 2018 as a MY 2018 while the UX would be released Q4 2018 as MY 2019.
It will be the ES is my guess and the Toyota debut there will be its Avalon platform mate. At the dealer level we have had confirmation for a q4 2017 launch of ES but we have seen these change (in the case for the rxl many times)
It could be GX, given the fact that on Sept 12 2017, Toyota introduced its major updates for Land Cruiser Prado which GX platform based on.
