Video: Watch Two Lexus LC 500s Race at Laguna Seca

Lexus has sponsored the latest episode of Motor Trend’s The Racing Line, with Randy Pobst & Justin Bell racing different Lexus cars at three different tracks across the USA — this is great fun to watch, highly entertaining:

(It should be noted that Justin Bell’s LC 500 was not equipped with the Performance package, meaning no active rear steering and no speed-activated rear wing — is that enough to affect the race? I’ll let you decide.)

The RC F lapped a 1:43.20, while this LC with the Performance package lapped a 1:43.40. This shows that while the LC is slower than the RC F on a straight line, it makes up for it in the corners with its better chassis. Another thing is that the RC F's transmission was shifting funny on the day of the race, that slowed it down. Otherwise, the LC is an amazing coupe that can satisfy its owner's track and driving needs.
Thanks for moving this here.

RC F's transmission was shifting "funny"?

Yeah. That day, it wasn't shifting right at the 2015 Best Driver's Car. Sometimes it gives Randy a gear, and sometimes it doesn't. It slowed the RC F down by a considerable amount, combined with its portly weight. Many people still called one of the best HPO automatics in the business.

Ah, did not realize you were talking about a previous test.

The RC F still placed 8th out of 12 that year. Motor Trend plans to put the Lexus LC in the competition this September.
