Lexus LC 500 to Star in New Black Panther Movie

Lexus has officially confirmed its collaboration with new Marvel movie The Black Panther after a LC 500 was spotted on set earlier this year.

There will also be a special graphic novel featuring the superhero and the new Lexus coupe, with the two companies hosting an invite-only party at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend in celebration of the partnership:

“Marvel continuously captures audiences through charismatic characters and inspiring stories — the ideal fit for Lexus’ mission to craft amazing, engaging experiences,” said Brian Bolain general manager, Lexus marketing. “And the LC’s aggressive styling, high performance and agile handling are a perfect fit for the Black Panther’s quick, cat-like reflexes and superhuman feats. We’re excited to see the duo in action.”

There will also be a graphic novel from famed X-Men writer Fabian Nicieza and cover illustrations by graphic artists Scott “Rahzzah” Wilson and Szymon Kudranski. Appropriately, the comic will feature Black Panther defeating a villain with the help of the Lexus LC 500.

“This campaign clicked from the get-go,” said Mindy Hamilton, Marvel’s senior vp global partnerships. “We have this bold, sophisticated hero stepping into the spotlight for the first time, and it’s been a blast to work with the Lexus team to build out a story that’ll familiarize fans with T’Challa as well as his advanced home nation of Wakanda.”

Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman as the Wakandan superhero and is directed by Ryan Coogler. The movie opens Feb. 16, 2018.

Really like that Lexus is starting to use their vehicles in movies, great for marketing. Especially with the new LC 500.
I remember back in the day rappers were singing about the Lexus SC430 (Big Tymers, R. Kelly), now we have the LC and the RX making movie appearances.
Great idea..good car, good color....
I love that color! too bad it isn't available in the current range of colors for the LC.

There was some news that came out last year that LC would get some movie star time. I believe there is going to be a movie that stars the Lexus sometime around Spring/Summer 2017 that coincides with the official launch time range.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the LC in another Marvel movie -- Thor and Spiderman are both coming this year.

Oh yeah lol, but I meant an actual production car in a film. I understand since in those days, Lexus didn't have any exciting looking or performing cars to use in a film.
That "car" I think was intended as an interpolation from the first-gen SC, or at least it looked that way at the time. Now all I can see is "Chrysler Crossfire" :)

There's also a new graphic novel with a Black Panther/Lexus teamup.

Is it possible they will finally release this color structural blue with the release of the movie?

I'm with you here! I love that color and have no idea why Lexus decided against using this structural blue ofrthe ultrasonic blue mica.

I hope Lexus will provide that color option for the LC. I am sure they will sell a lot.

Exactly!

Structural blue is my first pick, and white my second for a possible year end lease. Fingers crossed.
Yeah that color is hot.
