Lexus has released two teasers for the next-generation RX — the first is this image, which you can click for full resolution:

There’s also this short teaser video:

Beyond the two teasers, there’s a press release — here it is in full:

Lexus will introduce the all-new 2016 RX at the 2015 New York International Auto Show. When the RX model launched 17 years ago, it defined a new luxury segment. Since then, it has dominated mid-size luxury utility vehicle sales.

The fourth generation RX will make its global debut at a press conference in the Galleria at Jacob Javits Convention Center on Wednesday, April 1 at 9:10 a.m. EDT.

Looks very promising! Personally,I'd be very happy if the 4ws system from the GS F Sport was made an option on the new RX.

Excuse Lexus for controlling the luxury SUV world. The RX already was controlling the space like Black Dynamite. The NX has already done an incredible amount of damage, and is #2 is sales, and the #1 dynamic leader. Now, the final piece of the puzzle is the 7-passenger TX in 2017. The competition just isn't ready for this much ownage! BD

The sheer size of the RX will belittle an NX in terms of presence IMO

Yep, as I mentioned before 95% correct. Some details are different including the rear lights, the rear wiper is hidden akin to the current RX and it has chrome around the windows instead of the black plastic in the spy shots. A few proportions are odd too as well as the cut at the bottom of the doors.

I think the rendering has the body correct. But the thing it has wrong is the shape of the grille, headlights and taillights. But everything else seems close

It certainly looks very nice and exciting, but I'm disappointed to see that L-Finesse is definitely dead at this point. This is a complete departure from the RX as we know it. While Lexus has been accused of making "boring" designs, look at how well they've aged. The original ES 350 design is now nearly a decade old, and IMO it's still a beautiful car. The original RX 350 and GS 350 are even older, and they still look great. While these newer Lexus look really good now, in 10 years are they still going to look exciting or are they going to be tacky?

The automotive industry is just like any other, it's all about selling vehicles in the present. In today's age they can no longer stick to the boring designs (although they may age well), they need to stand out now in the showrooms over other brands. How a vehicle sells on a used dealership 10 years from now gives no benefit to Lexus/Toyota in terms of profit. I like the transition to sharper edges/lines that we've seen on the NX and now this RX teaser. I think some of the cars in the line up could also benefit from some of these rough edges.

I'm so excited for this! And Krew, am I missing something or is there no option to attach pictures anymore? I wanted to share a picture on here for the RX but there is no option to. :/

Hello fellow Lexus fans! Holding thumbs for an RX F and if so, it's release in South Africa Whilst we wait for the 1st of April, is there any inside info on new powertrains that we can look forward to? My wish list, in order of preference: [1] RX F [2] RX Hybrid Turbo [3] RX Turbo (6 cylinder - yes I know, would be nice though) [4] RX Hybrid (latest version of the current config) [5] RX Turbo (4 cylinder NX engine, a probability given the weight reduction) [6] RX (latest version of the current naturally aspirated config)

Greetings people. I found this site by happy coincidence looking at teaser shot of the new RX. For the last 3years I have been searching for what my next suv should be. August 2014 my wife got a toyota highlander limited. I loved it but knew I didn't want the same car as her. I wanted something highly reliable like hers, sumptuous and that would coddle me. I came up with the RX. but absolutely HATED HATED HATED the centre stack with the STUPID mouse controller, so I left the thought of it. them my eyes perked up with the release of the NX. Albeit too small I still saw hope for the interior I saw. Then I stumbled across a car and driver write up with the NEW RX teaser!. I swear to you good people, a maniacal laughter went off in my head. APRIL 1st. I anxiously await. For truly if all boxes are checked off, this is my next vehicle straight up cash purchase!! What I see so far looks F**king gorgeous!!
