Lexus Increases NX Production to 10,000 Units Per Month

Lexus has increased production of the NX compact crossover to 10,000 units per month in order to capitalize on the vehicle’s impressive launch.

The initial expectation was for 80,000 NXs to be sold worldwide in 2015, but the forecast has now been raised to more than 100,000 units.

The NX is produced at Toyota Motor Kyushu in Fukuoka, Japan.

the demand is strong for this new Lexus. with news of the next gen RX all we need is a new LX and we wouldn't be able to keep an SUV on the lot.

I inspected one again at JM Lexus and inside and out it just seems like a more expensive vehicle. The styling is just amazing. It's not just the USA that wants CUV's it's an exploding market everyone including Europe. This news is not surprising.

And with planning to get the next gen LX The sales will increase in the Middle East too!

The article said they raised the target to more than 100,000 units. Well, 12 x 10,000 is 120,000.

Its about time! I custom ordered my NX 300h in Atomic Silver back on December 23rd and still havent received an ETA. My salesman told me "I have to tell you it will be ready in 90-120 days but I'll have to get back with you on an ETA." Well, its almost a month; should it take this long to get an update? I don't want to call or email just yet and seem like I'm impatient, but I am. It's torture waiting for this thing! I would think since I'm purchasing the hybrid model it would be faster?

I doubt the hybrid will be there faster. It is not only the engine that limits production capacity.

I think the NX looks great, but wish they'd put the D4-D engines from the RAV4 in it. They seem to be good engines (according to reviews in Europe) and would increase the NX sales. I love Lexus for having a hybrid option for almost every model now but more engine options would really pave the way to more international success.

I hate you I'm so jealous! :'-( I placed my order on Dec 23rd and my salesman says its "it has gone through recycling, which is the 1st process, from there we should get a build date in the next month or two; they usually do a lot of updating in month 3." Just curious, how long did it take your dealer to give you a detailed step by step build/shipping date(s) after you placed your initial order? Also, do you live in the US?

No surprise. At 120k units, it's at max capacity and I'm sure the execs are already discussing expansion or retooling of existing plants for a possible larger demand. For those wanting an NX, I HIGHLY recommend getting the AVS (where available) as it really makes the NX ride like a much bigger and smoother vehicle!

The NX, in its F-Sport suit, looks really handsome! And that makes me anticipate the new RX more than ever!
