The Lexus RC F: By The Numbers

Car & Driver have gone technical with the Lexus RC F, measuring its performance and sharing how it performs against its competitors:

In a three-way drag race, the Bimmer walks away, with the [RC] F and RS5 keeping pace through the quarter-mile. By 130 mph, the RC F has eked out a nearly two-second lead on the RS5. Keep your foot in it and a governor abruptly halts acceleration at 171 mph.

With all the data crunched, the RC F proves no quicker than the old IS F. Nor is it slower, though. We recorded a 4.3-second zero-to-60 and a quarter-mile time of 12.8 seconds, identical to a 2008 IS F.

If you wanna go buy a BMW with two turbos go aheard, but they cant even make a reliable 4 cylinder nevermind a v6 twin turbos. Let understand this the M4 is only slightly better then the RCF on the race track other then that the RCF drives better on the road, has the better engine better transmision. So tell me on what grounds does the M4 walk away with the win?

400 pounds lighter the M4 is but in a recent track race with the M4 and RCF the RCF was only .1 or 2 seconds behind the M4 lap time. Being 400 pounds lighter then the RCF it can't outrun it showing the RCF is really running just as fast as the m4 while carrying more weight. So basically if the RCF lost some weight it would out run the M4 easily but in its standard form the RCF is right up there with the M4 comes downs to driver. But on the other hand the RCF is better on streets then the M4 which is where both of these cars will live their lives most of the time. So in that case the RCF will impress more often. Let's not forget the booming V8 soundtrack and better interior and mostly likely will be more reliable... The RCF starts to look like a no brainer... Unless your a BMW fan.

And there is this complain about this V8 engine that it does not pump out that punching power. it get to 60 in 4.3 for a 400 pound car i say it punchy enough. What i have noted about toyota engines thou they are too smooth on their power delivery so much so they can fool you into believing you not going as fast enough. and this engine stays with the m4 on the main straight. so what do they mean when they say the power is not enough?

saying power isnt enough is THEIR personal opinion NOT a fact. Other reviews said the power is ample. Its a high revving engine which was the intention of the engine builders, and usually high revving engine never have a kick in the pants feel but they offer a rush and surge of speed never running out of steam while building power.

Just got an RC F last week. It handles even better than I thought it would. ... the engine & transmission are spectacular. The weight some are complaining about is negligible. If they drove it for a week or two, they would end up being a lover. If not, the quality would win them over a few years later.
