Lexus to Offer New Safety Package Starting in 2015

Lexus has announced a new active safety package called the Lexus Safety System +, which will be offered on select models starting next year and on all models in Japan, North America, and Europe by 2017.

Lexus Safety System + brings together four existing Lexus safety features and one new technology — here are videos demonstrating the first four:

The new safety technology is called Road Sign Assist, and it “uses a camera placed in front of the vehicle to recognize speed limits and road signs and displays them on the meter display”.

it is great to hear that Lexus is offering this on select models. hopefully it will not have to be a special order type of situation. the new NX and RC have me hopeful for that as PCS and Radar Cruise are available during our normal preference request. the RX and ES should have this tech available without hassle or delay. the tech serves those vehicles normal customer demographics better than on say an RC(enthusiast) or NX(more likely move-up customers, hence younger) i understand putting the tech in the NX in the sense that younger buyers are wanting more tech in the car. I think that buyer is looking for more of a wow factor(i.e. mobile hotspot) than the safety system. good job Lexus keep it coming.

Personally I find this feature quite useful on the highways around here with frequently changing speed limits. Perhaps it's less of an issue in America.

I have the Pre-Crash on my ' 13GS.. it saved me a few time from an accident once as I was looking for an address on a major road the SUV in front of me slammed on his brakes and the car alerted me.

About time! Certain features should be available on all models, and it should not taint the image of the higher-tier models.

They should start looking into a air detection system. If polluted air is entering the cabin because the windows are open or the air circulation is off, it alerts the driver. If the driver presses OK, it shuts all windows and cleans out the air in the cabin. Something of that sort. Lexus needs to get ahead of the pack not follow MB.

This has already been an option for a while now. I delivered a car last week with the Driver Support Package which has these options.
