Jalopnik Reviews the Lexus RC F

Travis Okulski of Jalopnik has reviewed the Lexus RC F, and it’s just full of that signature Jalopnik personality:

Is the RC F better than a BMW M3? I haven’t driven the M3 yet, but I find it hard to think that the RC F would be better. But is that the point? Everyone in this class needs their unique calling card. The Lexus is more blunt instrument than precision tool.

You can’t treat the RC F like it’s a serious track day weapon. With that big snout, carbon roof, and exaggerated design features, it obviously has a sense of humor, which is something Lexus has never really had. And if you can’t have fun in the RC F, then you really don’t know what humor is. That makes the RC F easily the best Lexus I’ve ever driven.

what reviewers arent getting is that Lexus didn't develop the RCF to compete with laptimes or straight line acceleration with the M4. They created the RCF based on the sole purpose of fun to drive...

Ever since the reviews and discussions came out for this car, you are the first person I've seen that understands why Lexus made this car.

Who cares if it is the fastest car here in the US you can barely drive like 80-90 without thinking about getting a ticket. Lexus made a fast car not the fastest but a fast car that sounds amazing and for those that love what Lexus brings to the table with a little flare. I think this car is perfect for the Lexus image and brand and adds a unique car in a line up that is the best in the world.

That's what I like, it is a car of its own. Not another M3/M4 clone. I don't care if its not the fastest. If it has a unique design, 450+hp, a V8 (NA preferred), tech, fun to drive (which all reviews say it is), and SOUND (not fake *cough*BMW*cough), then I'm all in.

Sounds like a certain Lexus supercar... (or the Toybaru's) ;)

You know I can't help but think that the RC F sure generated emotional responses - good and bad - and that's a big change for Lexus from a decade ago or so when they were known as "an old man's car" and nobody really cared what they looked like or how they performed.

Lexus said "fun" and that what it doing. WIN! but watch out it will also put a good lap and ppl will wonder how. you can not fully judge a car on one track
