My New Car: The 2014 Lexus CT 200h F SPORT

Time for a major announcement — after seven years of driving a 1994 Lexus LS 400, I took delivery of a 2014 CT 200h F SPORT last week at OpenRoad Lexus Richmond in British Columbia.

While I have plenty of experience driving Lexus vehicles, this will be my first time being a new owner. The CT is a perfect fit for my family, and my top choice as the only hybrid F SPORT model available in North America.

Unfortunately, this also means the end of my LS. Three months ago, the power steering pump leaked all over the alternator and left me with a difficult choice — go forward with the expensive repair, or start looking for an alternative.

This was right around the time of my Western Canada dealership tour, and during a stop at OpenRoad Lexus, I talked with general manager Jeremy Schaab about the situation.

Push things forward to last week, when my wife Karissa and I flew into British Columbia and rolled out of the dealership in our new Ultra White CT F SPORT:

Lexus CT 200h F SPORT KREW & Karissa

With the new vehicle, I will be launching a dedicated blog for the CT 200h and my ownership experience — coming up next week, the story of my cross-country adventure driving home from British Columbia to Ontario.

This CT 200h F SPORT was made possible by the folks at OpenRoad Lexus Richmond, the premier Lexus dealership in British Columbia and a proud sponsor of Lexus Enthusiast. My special thanks to Jeremy Schaab, Amy Li, and Sarena Yung for their expert assistance in making this happen.

Hello, I want to know how you were able to acquire a CT F-Sport without the black painted roof???? I tought all F-Sport CT's came with only the black roof. I'm a sales consultant at Newport Lexus in Newport Beach CA and would like to know. Unless you ordered it. Thanks for the all the great work you do.

The black roof on the CT F SPORT is unavailable in Canada. Even now, I'm not sure what my preference would be.

Congrats on the new car,Kev! The CT is the kind of car you'll love right away and even more as you spend time with it and get to know it. As you know,Lexus has the most satisfied customers in Scandinavia, and the individual model with the highest score is the CT. Can't say I'm surprised!

Grats Krew! I'm actually an owner of the original Ct200h (2011) and love my car. Not an Fsport mind you, but in the three years I've had it I've put a respectable 33k on it and love the crap out of the car. My only complaint about it is that it is not excellent in the snow and is just slightly low to the ground (that's more of a push than a negative). All that said, my experience with the car has been fantastic. I've gotten 40+ mpg consistently (closer to 45 in the summers lower in the winters) the upkeep has been not much more than what I was paying for the Prius I had before it and it is full of gadgets and comfort. Really a great car. The sad news is that being in New England, the snow thing is kind of a big deal. Hence my great interest in the NX300h which is kinda like a CT200h crossover from what I can tell. Anyway, I will always have a soft-spot for the ct200h as it has been one of my favorite drives! Look forward to more impressions from you!

Hello, congratulations for your new purchase. The CT has been since its first appearance, my favourite hatchback ever made of all times. It's not about its hybrid powertrain wich I love by the way, but for the styling, definitely the most sexy ever seen on an hatchback.

I loved my '11 Matador Red CT and only gave it up to my USB '14 IS as I couldn't resist it. The CT is a good highway ride, but excels in daily Toronto stop-and-go driving where I averaged 5L/100km in the summer and high 5s in the winter. And let's not forget this is on 87 octane. Excellent real-world numbers for such a stylish and practical hatch. Congratulations on your CT F-Sport. PS. Putting things into perspective, your LS was 20 years old, wow. Let's pay hommage to the best automobile of its time and the legacy it created for Lexus today.

Congratulations Crew! It really is a great car and I hope you'll like it. I got mine about 2 months ago and I'm still amazed by how smooth its hybrid drivetrain is.

It is a really smart looking car and I wish them well with their choice, quite a change from an LS tho sure they will miss some things about their old car. Will the blog be available on this site? I have driven theCt several times and admit to enjoying it except for the noise under harsh acceleration can Lexus not sort this out with improved cvt transmission and more sound deadening: the new Honda Accord has equipment installed which produces 'white' noise to counter road and wind noise and you end up with a car with limousine like quietness?
