Turbocharged Lexus LF-NX Concept to Debut at Tokyo Motor Show

Lexus will be showing a new turbocharged LF-NX concept alongside the production RC coupe at the Tokyo Motor Show:

The Lexus LF-NX concept, which made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year, has been outfitted with a newly-developed 2.0-liter turbo engine for guaranteed power and improved fuel economy.

A lower center of gravity, emphasized by the front under spoiler, gives the turbo model a sportier look. The LF-NX cuts a lean profile, with its compact, sharp body and bold tires conveying SUV-unique power and an exciting drive. Inside, the new remote touch interface with touchpad functionality provides an advanced, user-friendly experience unique to Lexus.

Four photos of the new LF-NX Turbo have been released:

The exterior design changes are minimal, but the powertrain is exciting and should have some wide-ranging applications throughout the lineup.

(Curious that Lexus is choosing to debut a 2.0L turbo in a compact crossover rather than their brand new sports coupe.)

whats the point of announcing a new engine in a concept? have they shown photos of the engine? for all we know there is no engine in there. I hope they have a range of outputs for the 2.0l like BMW etc have.

46 mostly negative comments about the RC Coupe, which I add mine to, contrasts with only 2 for the NX. That speaks volumes. I cannot believe how the exciting RC concept can be watered down so much and the NX is so over the top it's a turn off for the opposite reason. I was really looking forward to the Tokyo launch but won't be bothering now. Really disappointed as I hoped our next car would be an NX.

I have no idea what the production model will look like, Rob, but I wouldn't base any buying decisions on a concept. :-)

Best iteration of the spindle grill gets even better. We want to get the new NX too, so hope they tone down the production model.

That would be very nice. But a 3AR-FTE should be good to go.

I was hoping to purchase an NX model next summer/fall, but based on it having an optional hybrid, what happen to those earlier prospects........?
